Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you this week all the way from Edmonton in Alberta in Canada. On what is the last weekend of The Stadium Tour. Can you believe that?. Next weekend when I do my show it will be all over. So it'll be a bit of a summary of the bands that have been this tour with Def Leppard his entire summer in the United States and Canada. Which we are bringing to the rest of the world next year. But I have an itch to scratch. I've been wanting to play this song for ages and I normally play a big long one somewhere in the middle. But right now we are going epic. Full on epic to start the show. This is Todd Rundgren's Utopia."

Utopia

"I saw them open for Led Zeppelin at Knebworth on 4th August 1979. Why do I remember that date?. Because it's Led Zeppelin at Knebworth. But also because it was one day before Def Leppard signed our record contract. Can you believe that. And disappointingly they didn't play that song. It's my favourite ever Utopia song. From the 1977 album Ra. It is Overture: Mountaintop And Sunrise/Communion With The Sun."

Classless Act

"Now if you're a regular listener to my show you'll full well know that Def Leppard have been touring throughout the United States and Canada all summer with Motley Crue, Poison and Joan Jett And The Blackhearts. What you possibly didn't know, because they don't get mentioned very often, is there's actually a fifth act on just to let everybody know that the day has started. And they've got an album out. It's very very good indeed. And it's about time I played them. So here we go. This is Classless Act."

"As was the band that we heard before them called Classless Act. They're actually really really good. They play the same role that Def Leppard played when we opened for Bob Seger at a festival. When we were the first band on just to let everybody know that the show had started. I believe we went on stage at about 11:30 in the morning. Classless Act go on at 4pm. It's a slightly better spot. The album is called Welcome To the Show. The song that we heard Give It To Me. Good luck boys."

Joan Jett And The Blackhearts

"An absolute class act every single night. Brought her A Game to this tour so much. Just comes, play for one hour. Kills everybody with the hits. And is consistently fantastic. I am talking Joan Jett and The Blackhearts. There from the album Fit To Be Tight with I Hate Myself For Loving You. An absolute class act."

Poison

"Right well who's up next?. Yes have a guess. Yes riding the wind, this is Poison."

"Before that Poison from their 1990 album Flesh And Blood with what is my favourite Poison song, goes down great every night, Ride The Wind."

Motley Crue

"I've spent quite a bit of time hanging out with Nikki Sixx back stage and going for dinner and what have you this whole summer. He's such a fantastic guy. And the song that we heard there is a little bit of a kind of a musical paragraph. Or an autobiographical tune if you like because Kickstart My Heart was written after Nikki was as they say in US medical terminology toe tagged for a few seconds. Until somebody said we're not giving up on this guy and they gave him a massive adrenaline shot. Smashed him on his chest and brought him back to life. And thank god they did because we've had such a fantastic time these last 11 weeks it is. I am looking forward to many more great times with him next year. We just heard Motley Crue there from the Dr. Feelgood album with Kickstart My Heart."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you this week for the very last time on The Stadium Tour all the way from Edmonton in Canada. Coming up some brand new music from the side project of a member of Def Leppard."

Last In Line

"And before that where did he find the time?. Well truth is it was probably recorded before The Stadium Tour started. But it is Last In Line Vivian Campbell's side project. And he tells me it was recorded exactly the same way that Def Leppard recorded Diamond Star Halos. In other words remotely because quite frankly they didn't have any other choice. It's a very very radical rework of that Beatles classic A Day In The Life."

Uriah Heep

"Fantastic stuff there from Uriah Heep. It is from the 2017 remastered version of the album Demons And Wizards. Which sounds way more punchy than the original version. The song is the wonderful Traveller In Time."

Trevor Rabin

"So from brand new music let's head all the way back to 1977. And to a South African gentleman who would one day become a member of Yes. Trevor Rabin."

"And before that Trevor Rabin. The South African and good friend of Mutt Lange's actually and decided to leave South Africa and make his fortune elsewhere. Did a few solo albums that didn't really take off. But eventually would become for a little while a member of Yes. He really gave them a good kick up the backside. They did some great records with Trevor. And there from his debut solo album we just heard the song Live A Bit."

Queen

"I'm very much looking forward to seeing Roger Taylor and of course Brian May in a few weeks time when certain members of Def Leppard will be taking part in the US version of the Taylor Hawkins Tribute show which is happening this weekend in the UK. Obviously we couldn't be involved in that one as we're touring in Canada right now. And of course none of us would really wanna be there at all because we'd much rather Taylor Hawkins was still with us. But sadly he isn't so we will pay our regards the best way we possibly can. And I will continue my forever love affair with Roger Taylor's voice because that is just a fantastic bit of work. It's Queen from the Jazz album with More Of That Jazz."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Edmonton in Canada, is about it for this week. And it's almost the end of the tour. Next week I shall be coming to you from well I don't know where. But it'll probably involve a sunbed, a drink in hand, a pair of shades and some really decent music in my headphones."

"So until then let me just say it's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time. So until then let's go out with this absolute gem. Title track of their amazing album Let There Be Rock. This is AC/DC. Until next week see ya!."
