Show Intro

"Greetings one and all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you this week all the way from Hannover in Germany. And talk about a quick in and out. Here we are doing a show tonight but we're actually based in Prague. Six nights in the same hotel. What a joy. We flew in, we're gonna do this gig, and then at midnight we're flying back to Prague. It's crazy, but it's so much fun. As I hope is this next sixty minutes. And tonight it's gonna be ladies first. Yes chivalry is not dead. Right up to the break it's all ladies. So let's get started shall we with The Runaways."

The Runaways

"I saw them live on their first and probably only ever British tour in 1976 at the Sheffield University. And many many years later a photograph showed up that was taken from behind the stage looking down over the crowd and you could actually see me in the crowd. And I got a copy of it and I gave it to Joan Jett last summer when she was out on The Stadium Tour with us and Motley. Fantastic times. That is from their debut album back in 1976. It is The Runaways. It is their most famous song Cherry Bomb."

Hole

"Right time for a little bit of celebrity skin. This is Hole."

"And before that well we did a show with this band in 1999. At a big open air festival somewhere in the middle of America and Eric the guitar player was wearing a Def Leppard shirt. And the leader Courtney Love said some really nice things about us on stage. Which was very unexpected in 1999 when you're coming out the back of Grunge. But God bless her for it. The band are Hole. We just heard the title track of the album Celebrity Skin."

Note - Edgefest 6 Festival in Somerset, WI on 29th May 1999 The first show of the 'Euphoria' promo tour.

Kristeen Young

"Produced by one Tony Visconti. Famous for his work with T. Rex, David Bowie and Thin Lizzy. That is Kristeen Young. From an album called Music For Strippers, Hookers And The Odd Onlooker. Oo er. The song is Son Of Man."

Kate Bush

"Now I saw what was to be the last show of a run of about 20 maybe 22 shows that this lady put on at the Hammersmith Odeon a few years ago. And I wonder if it's the last time we'll ever see her live. This is Kate Bush."

"And before that we heard from 1982 I believe it was, Kate Bush. What a fantastic record. We heard the title track of the album The Dreaming."

Tori Amos

"Now I'll let you into a little secret. Def Leppard did Top Of The Pops in 1992. iI think it might have been Heaven Is. This lady that we just heard was on and gave me a kiss on the lips. And I've never forgotten it. Tori Amos you naughty minx. What a fantastic artist she is though. From the album it's the deluxe version of Under The Pink we just heard the huge hit Cornflake Girl."

Note - Joe was either talking about either this show in January 1994 which he co-presented and where she played this song live. Or Tori taped her 25th June 1992 appearance for the song 'Crucify' when Def Leppard did 'Make Love Like A Man' (On the 18th June 1992 show). No other appearances were done when DL or Joe were there.

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show all the way from Hannover in Germany this week. Coming up song all about a city that we just spent three days in."

Jethro Tull

"And before that we heard Jethro Tull from an album from 1989 called Crest Of A Knave. With a song called and about the city we stayed in, Budapest."

Ozzy Osbourne

"From his most recent album and what a great album it is too. That is Ozzy Osbourne. The album is Patient No. 9. The song that we just heard which is a fantastic bit of work called Nothing Feels Right. Featuring on guitar Zakk Wylde. These days a member of Pantera who just happened to be in town at the same time as us and Motley Crue were. They came down to say hi. We hung out for a little while. Had a chat. And then realised we were all in the same hotel. So myself and Zakk Wylde retired to the rooftop bar and had a little moment together. It was fantastic. He doesn't drink anymore. 12 years sober. Well done. But I had a little cocktail and we were sat outside. The moon was up. It was a great great time actually. We put the world to rights. We shot a little video for Ozzy and I told him how much we loved him and how much of a mentor he was for us back in 1981. 42 years ago when we toured with Ozzy. And him and Sharon really looked after us. All the lights. All the soundchecks. That's how you look after a support band. Wonderful stuff."

Boomtown Rats

"So from Budapest back to Boomtown. Go on Bob show us how you do it."

"And before that we heard the Boomtown Rats. All the way from Dublin, Ireland. Featuring the very lively Bob Geldof. With a song that was a huge hit for them. It's from the classic Rats collection called Back To Boomtown. The song Lookin' After No. 1."

Hanoi Rocks

"So this time next week we will be in Helsinki, Finland. Where I'm really looking forward to hooking up with Michael Monroe once again 'cause I haven't seen him since Def Leppard played a show with him in Spain before the pandemic. And it is his home country and it's his home town. And he's on the same bill as us. How cool is that. And I've been a fan ever since I saw Hanoi Rocks his original band back in 1984 multiple times at The Marquee Club in London. What a great band they were. And that's who we just heard. And we'll have to deal with that until I see him next week. It's from an album called Million Miles Away. It's Hanoi Rocks with their great version of the Creedence song Up Around The Bend."

Random Comment - Joe may be hanging out with Michael Monroe but it's safe to say Michael won't be hanging out with Motley Crue. Search terms "Hanoi Rocks", "Vince Neil", "Razzle" for details....

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Hannover in Germany, is about it for this week. As I've just said next week we shall be in Helsinki, Finland.

"So until then, well I couldn't do a show from Hannover without playing the boys from Hannover could I. This is the Scorpions with Catch Your Train. Until next week see ya!."
