Show Intro

"Evening all. Welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the magnificent Planet Rock. Always good to be here. Sixty minutes, we have one solid hour of R.O.C.K. It's all over the place tonight. It's one of the most eclectic shows that I think I've ever compiled. We're gonna start off back in 1973 with what was then one of the biggest bands in the UK ever. Yes, I'm talking about Slade."

Slade

"You play Feel The Noise, their greatest hits album, and you just realise how much magnificent material those guys put together in such a short period of time. They were fantastic weren't they. And it was just a joy to see them on what seemed to be every week on Top Of The Pops. And there they are with one of their greatest hits. Come On Feel The Noise."

Note - The song played was actually 'Mama Weer All Crazee Now'.

Montrose

"And from the same year but a long long way from Wolverhampton. In fact all the way over to San Francisco. These bad boys were firing up their engines. This is Montrose."

"And before that we heard Montrose from their debut album back in 1973. Wonderful stuff. The song Bad Motor Scooter."

Ghost

"Oh he loves a good play on words that Tobias doesn't he?. When I did the reworked version of Spillways with him we made a little video. In my local actually. All about me going on a Pope call. And it reminded me that he'd actually done an E.P. called Popestar. Which it took me this long to get around to playing something from. And it is a magnificent rework of an old Eurythmics song called Missionary Man."

David Crosby

"You are listening to...if I could only remember my name."

"And before that the man who put the C in CSN and Y. Yes David Crosby and you can really hear his contribution to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young in that particular song. It's from an album called If I Could Only Remember My Name. The song is Tamalpais High (At About Three)."

Steely Dan

"Some groovy laid back West Coast stuff or you right there from the 70s. American style of course. That is Steely Dan from the album Showbiz Kids with a track called Kid Charlemagne. Great bit of work."

"You are listening to, and I do remember now, the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up some classic Genesis."

Genesis

"And before that Genesis and why not. It's from an album called Selling England By The Pound. And the song that we heard the Firth Of Fifth."

The Clash

"You know what I love about my shows the most. Being able to play two songs like that back to back. And for me it works fine. I don't think you'll hear those songs back to back ever again unless you're iPod or whatever device you have is on shuffle. We just heard the debut single actually from their debut album of the band The Clash. 1977. The song White Riot."

Alice Cooper

"Right then something a little more conventional?. Hardly. This is Alice Cooper."

"And before that we heard the mighty Alice Cooper. Fellow presenter on Planet Rock of course. From that wonderful album that is Billion Dollar Babies. We heard Generation Landslide."

John Miles

"I saw him live at the Sheffield University and he and his band were absolutely fantastic. He would later on in his career go on to sing for the likes of The Alan Parsons Porject and Jimmy Page. He is the late great John Miles. And from 1976, his debut album Rebel, we just heard his first ever hit single Highfly."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week.I hope you enjoyed my rather eclectic song choices. Let me know one way or the other. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time. So don't touch that dial. Why would you?.

"Until then I shall leave you with this. And let's stay eccentric. The second ever hit in 1974. And what a hit. From the album Kimono My House. This is Sparks and Amateur Hour. Tiil next week see ya!."
