Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott hosted another edition of his weekly radio show on 22nd April on Planet Rock.

"Greetings one and all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. I must admit I've got one eye on the football. But just the one eye because I don't want to lose my concentration for the next sixty minutes. We've got some fantastic music for you tonight. Some really classic stuff and some brand new stuff. Let's start the show off with an album that is 50 years old this week. Happy birthday Aladdin Sane."

David Bowie

"Cracking stuff there from the cracked actor himself David Bowie. The last proper album if you like with The Spiders From Mars. He did make Pin Ups but even that had Aynsley Dunbar on the drums. Wonderful stuff there. 1973. The album is Aladdin Sane. The track we heard, the opening track, Watch That Man."

Ian Hunter

"Right then been wanting to play this for quite a while now. This is absolutely brand spanking new Ian Hunter."

"And before that brand new out this Friday gone Ian Hunter. The album is Defiance Part 1. The album itself has got so many guests on it. I'd be here till my show ends telling you who they all are. I will be playing various tracks over the next month or so. I will let more cats out of the bag then. But on this particular song that we just heard. Not only does it feature various members of his Rant Band. And producer Andy York on guitar. But also Robert Trujillo from Metallica on bass. And of course all the lead guitar work by Slash. Ian Hunter title track of the album Defiance."

Scorpions

"From their most recent album last year's Rock Believer. That is the Scorpions with a song called Hot And Cold."

Be Bop Deluxe

"Now in my experience cover bands can be a hot topic of discussion. Some of us love them and some of us not so much. I've seen a couple of Def Leppard ones that are really really good. And this week a friend of mine sent me a link to a band called Sunburst Deluxe. There's your clue. The guitar player is fantastic. And I thought I should play something from the band that they're honouring. So here we are and it's a song that I saw on YouTube well worth checking out. This is the original. This is Be Bop Deluxe."

"And before that we heard Be Bop Deluxe from the album Axe Victim. And I played that because it was kind of prompted by watching a YouTube video of a covers band for Be Bop called Sunburst Deluxe. They're really really good. The guitar played is astonishing. The song that we just heard, the original version of Jet Silver And The Dolls Of Venus."

Down 'N' Outz

"Now if you're a regular listener to my show, and I hope you are, you'll know that I don't really self indulge much. But I've had a lot of emails in asking me why I don't play a little bit more of side projects that I've been involved in. So I thought why not I'll dig something out for once. From the 2019 album This Is How We Roll. That is my little side project the Down 'N' Outz with a song called Last Man Standing."

"Magnificent stuff there from Todd Rundgren's Utopia. The album is Ra from 1977. The song is Magic Dragon Theatre."

Thin Lizzy

"Right it's time to go live for the next couple of tracks. Starting off with raw and as it happens Thin Lizzy."

"And before that Thin Lizzy from the box set that is Live And Dangerous. Now there's been so many discussions about whether Live And Dangerous is really live. Some of them say it isn't Some of them say it was. It doesn't matter. It's a fantastic record. But that is live because it's part of the collection of tapes that the original album was taken from. So there's no overdubs. It is what it is. And boy does it sound fantastic. Live from the Hammersmith Odeon that is Warrior."

Judas Priest

"Who'd have thought that Judas Priest would turn a folkie like Joan Beaz song into an absolute rock classic. There it is from the Unleashed In The East album. That is Judas Priest with Diamonds And Rust."
