Show Intro

"Greetings my fellow music lovers and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the magnificent Planet Rock. Always a pleasure to be with you. We have round about 60 minutes to play all sorts of stuff tonight. All spectrums of rock covered in the next hour or so. Starting off with this crowd from Canada with their caress of steel. This is Rush."

Rush

"So whenever I played Rush on Rush on my show in the past I've often mentioned the fact that I was at their first ever UK gig at the Sheffield City Hall June 1st 1976 I would day. Well I would be absolutely wrong by an entire year. It was June 1st 1977. I checked on my very fast rewind digital calendar. But it was their first ever show. They pretty much played the entire live album that was All The World's A Stage. With one new song thrown in from their forthcoming album Farewell To Kings. That song was the epic Xanadu. But their from the album Caress Of Steel in their more kind of basic rock format. We just heard Bastille Day."

Ian Hunter

"So as I saw Rush on the 1st June 1977. Three days later on the bus with my Bffs up to Doncaster to catch this crowd at The Gaumont."

"And before that Ian Hunter from what is essentially his third solo album back in 1977. He did actually name the band after the album. The album and band were called Overnight Angels. The song we heard Golden Opportunity."

Jobriath

"He announced himself as the first true fairy of rock and roll. But sadly back in 1973/1974 the tolerance for that kind of an announcement was a lot less than it would be these days. Which is such a shame because he made some fantastic music. Think Mick Jagger singing Ziggy Stardust. That pretty much sums up Jobriath. He made two great albums. Creatures Of The Street and the album that we just heard a track from named simply Jobriath. The song World Without End."

Public Image Ltd

"Right then here's a bit of F F F by PIL."

"And before that Public Image Ltd which was Johnny Lydon's band once he dropped the Rotten from his Sex Pistols persona. The album is called Compact Disc. it features the likes of Steve Vai on guitar and Ginger Baker from Cream on drums. The song that we just heard Farewell My Fairweathered Friend or F F F."

The Psychedelic Furs

"They were very different to what was going on at the time and very unique and very appealing to a young man like me. They are The Psychedelic Furs. That is from the album Talk Talk Talk. The song Dumb Waiters."

"You're listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up a little bit of tenderness with Duff McKagan."

Duff McKagan

"And before that fantastic stuff. it was my favourite album of the year back in I think it was 2018. It is Duff McKagan with the title track Tenderness."

The Kinks

"Used brilliantly in one of those very poignant scenes in that fantastic show that was The Sopranos for all you fans that may remember that. It is The Kinks. It's really a Dave Davies song but credited to the band. It's from the album Word Of Mouth. The song is Living On A Thin Line."

Thin Lizzy

"OK so are you up for a bit of dancing?. Boogie woogie style. Good, this is Thin Lizzy."

"And before that Thin Lizzy from Johnny The Fox with a little bit of Boogie Woogie Dance for ya."

Mick Ronson

"Written for him by his old boss David Bowie. That is Mick Ronson from his debut solo album in 1974. The album is Slaughter On Tenth Avenue. The song Growing Up And I'm Fine."

Be Bop Deluxe

"OK so now time for a little bit of modern music. This is Be Bop Deluxe."

"And before that Be Bop Deluxe from essentially one of their greatest bits of work Modern Music. The song Kiss Of Light."

The Move

"Nothing modern about that whatsoever. Back into the mid 60s we went in full glorious Mono. From The Move album the Deluxe Version. That is the band The Move featuring the of course very talented Mr. Roy Wood. The song is Night Of Fear."

Show Outro

"And that my friends brings this show to an end. Been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then I shall leave you with one of the greatest cover versions that I've ever heard. Doing The Beatles real justice. From the album Permanent Vacation in 1987 this is Aerosmith and I'm Down. Until next week see ya!."
