Def Leppard played another show on The World Tour 2023 last night in Sturgis, SD with 17 songs performed.

The show took place at the 20,000 plus capacity Buffalo Chip Campgrounds.

The first show in this city since August 2015.

The fourth appearance at this venue.

A rare show without Motley Crue on the bill.

Sturgis Rally 2023

A brief detour from the main World Tour with a return to Sturgis, South Dakota.

And a return to the Sturgis Rally after a gap of 8 years.

Fortunately with Joe in better health this time and hopefully not affected too much by the bike fumes as he was at that show.

Joe had ended that show by saying "See you again one day." and true to his word they were back.

Playing a headline set from 10:30pm to 12am.

No Video Screens

A much smaller stage at this event and no video screens either below and behind Rick's drum kit or side stage.

One of the few big shows played since 2005 with no video content whatsoever during their performance.

Instead the band concentrated on rocking the crowd including bikers (on their bikes) in front of the stage for their 90 minute set.

As you can see below Sav decided to look the part by wearing one of his Overnight Angels Crew biker shirts.

Later tonight they will be back to the more familiar stage setup in nearby North Dakota as The World Tour proper resumes with Motley Crue.

Pop Evil/Support Band

The band were supported by Pop Evil.

An American rock band from North Muskegon, Michigan who formed in 2001.

They played an opening set from 8pm to 9:15pm.

They are currently on tour supporting their 7th album 'Skeletons'.

Devils Tower

The venue is just 80 miles to the East of the famous Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming.

As seen in 'Close Encounters Of The Third Kind'.

17 Song Setlist

The same 17 song setlist played once more.

All three 'Diamond Star Halos' songs played in Sturgis for the first time.

The 'Drift Away' snippet and sing-along was again played before 'This Guitar'.

Sturgis History

The first visit to Sturgis was in August 1999 during the Euphoria tour supported by Moon Dog Mane featuring Tesla guitarist Frank Hannon.

After a 12 year gap they returned in August 2911 during the Mirrorball world tour.

Four years later the third appearance took place in August 2015.

Joe later said the bike fumes a that show affected his ongoing illness that resulted in the issues he suffered in early 2016 at the Hysteria cruise and the later tour postponement/cancellations.

Last night's show was the fourth overall performance in Sturgis.

The next Def Leppard show takes place in Fargo, ND on 11th August.
