Def Leppard played another show on The World Tour 2023 last night in Milan, Italy with 17 songs performed.

The show took place at the 20,000 capacity Ippodromo Snai - San Siro.

The first show in this city since June 2019.

Another outdoor festival show.

Italia 2023

From field in Belgium to another field in Milan, which is normally used for horse racing.

But also used for summer concerts and temperatures in the high 80s F greeted thousands more rock fans for another show.

This time in Italy, 33 years after Italia 1990. The World Cup finals where most people first heard of a nearby stadium called the San Siro.

A 75,000 plus capacity stadium that is the usual venue for most stadium size acts (Muse and Coldplay both play there soon).

But not for this show which took place in the Ippodromo Snai - San Siro which is within a giant horse racing circuit called Ippodromo del Galoppo di San Siro.

In other words a concert area tucked at one end of the massive field.

Milan Gets Rocked

The band were on stage at 7:30pm after the late start time in Belgium and they blasted into 'Take WHat You Want' with the local fans singing along to every word.

Especially as they went into 'Let's Get Rocked' - "Milano, Do ya wanna get rocked?" - They did.

And a front row view was provided by one fan broadcasting at least the first five songs.

More footage can be seen via the Fan Videos link.

Including the first video found...which is the entire concert.

Opening Band

A local all female pop punk band were added as openers for this show in the last week or so.

Bambole di Pezza (Rag Dolls in English) played a short set at 6:30pm and created a little bit of history.

They are now the second all female band to open for Def Leppard in Milan after British band Rock Goddess did the same in 1983 on the Pyromania tour.

A (Sort Of) Festival

So this show actually was technically a festival but also not.

The series of summer shows at this venue are called the Milano Summer Festival.

But like The World Tour poster used for this show most acts don't mention the festival name.

And one of the upcoming shows by Iron Maiden listed on their site will be called "The Return Of The Gods" festival.

The stage used was also used for a recent show by Ghost with the Milano Summer Festival logos shown and the usual giant video screens on either side.

Sunset In Milano

The crowd were treated to an epic sunset as Def Leppard ended their show at 9pm.

As captured in some of the photos and video clips shown below.

And so far on this tour leg none of the rain that plagued the opening shows of The Stadium Tour in 2022 which are now celebrating their first anniversaries.

17 Song Setlist

The same 17 song setlist played once more.

All three 'Diamond Star Halos' songs played in Italy for the first time.

Milan History

The band first played in Milan in October 1983 (with Rock Goddess) at the Rolling Stone club venue.

The next show took place in March 1988 on the Hysteria tour.

They then returned to the Rolling Stone club in May 1992 before a bigger show at Palasesto n the Adrenalize tour.

A show which was filmed and broadcast on local TV.

A Slang tour show at Palalido took place in November 1996 before a long ten year wait for the next show.

In June 2006 the YEAH! tour kicked off with the band's first outdoor show in Milan at the Gods Of Metal festival.

13 years would pass before the band's return and their biggest solo headline show yet in Milan in June 2019 at the Mediolanum Forum.

Last night's show was their 8th appearance in Milan.

The next Def Leppard show takes place in Lisbon, Portugal on 23rd June (which definitely isn't a festival...).
