Show Intro

"Aye aye and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on what is the most wonderful of radio stations Planet Rock. Do not touch that dial because we have sixty minutes of what I like to think is magnificent music lined up for ya. And as soon as I acknowledge the fact that last week I did firmly plant my foot in my mouth when I mentioned that the weather was so good that you could actually sit outdoors and eat your lunch. Well for a day and a half you could but then we got the snow. So welcome to the wonderful world of global warming and the British winter. Let's get the show started shall we with this beauty from 1977. This is UFO."

UFO

"It was also pointed out to me by a very eagle eared listener that when I announced the Rush song last week, which was Closer To the Heart, that it was their only Top 40 hit. Oh no it wasn't because they also had a Number 13 apparently with The Spirit Of Radio. I must have been away when that happened so apologies to all you Rush fans. I may even play it next week. But we started the show off there from 1977. UFO their breakthrough album Lights Out the song Too Hot To Handle."

Pat Travers

"Let's stay 1977 for just a little while longer shall we. This is the wonderful Pat Travers."

"And before that Pat Travers from his second album Makin' Magic. The song You Don't Love Me."

Fanny

"I shall be doing a little interview for a documentary on that band in a couple of weeks time when I get over to New York. They are Fanny. I was a fan ever since I first got their Flexi-Disc free in the NME for a song called Blind Alley. Great band, one of the first all female rock bands to ever really make a mark in the music industry. And that's from their album that came out last year having reformed. The album is called Fanny Walks The Earth. Which gives you a hint that the band are called Fanny. The song we just heard Lured Away."

Roxy Music

"I mentioned that I'm heading off to New York in a couple of weeks. It is the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction ceremony 29th March. Two female artists Janet Jackson and Stevie Nicks and five bands all of them British. Def Leppard, The Zombies, The Cure, Radiohead and this crowd. This is Roxy Music."

"And before that Roxy Music from the fantastic album Country Life with the most wonderful piece of work called The Thrill Of It All."

Robert Plant

"From his 1982 debut album Pictures At Eleven that is the mighty Robert Plant there with Burning Down One Side."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. It is time for a little break and when we come back, a double helping ofDoctors Of Madness."

Doctors Of Madness

"Couple of songs there that you have to play back to back 'cause they're so intertwined. They are from an album called Figments Of Emancipation which came out in 1977. It is the Doctors Of Madness. The songs we heard Brothers and Suicide City."

Pink Fairies

"Well from one eccentric proto punk band to another. This is the Pink Fairies."

"And before that the kings of oblivion themselves the Pink Fairies with City Kids. Ironically once covered by Motorhead."

Motorhead

"I have to say having been a fan of Motorhead since I saw them live so early on in their career that it was Larry Wallace on guitar. Long before the likes of Fast Eddie Clarke joined or even Philthy Animal Taylor. That for me is the best album that Motorhead ever made. It came out in 2015. It is called Bad Magic. The song we just heard Electricity."

T. Rex

"Now I guess we've all got one but a memory of a song that never leaves you is something that you will discuss all your life. For example this next song I first heard in a Scout hut in Sheffield when I was 12 years old. Why do I remember that?. I have no idea, but what a song."

"And before that T. Rex featuring Marc Bolan and right up there with David Bowie and Mott The Hoople when it comes to childhood heroes. Still have plenty of time to listen to his work. The song we just heard from his 1972 album Slider is Metal Guru."

Be Bop Deluxe

"From the recently released four disc box set of Sunburst Finish. An album originally released in 1976 that is Be Bop Deluxe. It is the 2018 stereo remix of the opening track Fair Exchange. And what a fantastic job they've done remixing that album."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week god willing at exactly the same time more more what I like to think is magnificent music on this magnificent radio station."

"So for this week I'm gonna leave you with this. As you know I have no shame. I will admit my mistakes and I will say this too. I don't believe in guilty pleasures. Own them, love them and play them loud. Ladies and gentleman I give you The Osmonds and Crazy Horses. Till next week see ya!."
