Show Intro

"Aye aye and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is great to be with you once again. We have for you tonight in my humble opinion sixty minutes of very eclectic collection of rock songs. A veritable feast of variation you might say. Starting off with this beauty from 1973. This is David Bowie."

David Bowie

"From an album that inspired Def Leppard to record the YEAH! album back in 2006. That is David Bowie from 1973 and his covers album Pin Ups with a song originally released back in 1964 by The Pretty Things. Their first ever release in fact. The song Rosalyn."

Hustler

"Now David Bowie was known as a great mimic of other people's voices. In fact he could pull out a really good mockney accent when he wanted to. But I tell you what, he never came close to this guy. This is Hustler."

"And before that Hustler from their debut album back in 1974. They once supported Queen. The song we heard Get Outa My 'ouse."

Heavy Metal Kids

"Another great singer with a nice cockney twist on his voice was Gary Holton. And there we just heard him with the Heavy Metal Kids from 1976. It was a standalone single back then. It's now to be found as a bonus track on their album Kitsch. The song Delirious."

Jet

"And the cockney does not end there my friends. Featuring ex members of John's Children, The Nice, Roxy Music and Sparks. And future members of Ian Hunter's Overnight Angels and the Radio Stars. And not to be confused with the band of the same name from Australia, I give you Jet."

"And before that the UK band Jet from 1975. Their solitary album. The song that we heard Nothing To Do With Us."

Marizane

"Nothing cockney about that band whatsoever. That's because they are from New York City. Pretty glammy though. They were produced by Mr. Tony Visconti. Famous for his work with Marc Bolan and T. Rex, David Bowie and Thin Lizzy. The band are Marizane. The song we heard Sad Foolish Robot."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break and when we come back, we're going back on the cockney trail one more time with Mr. Steve Harley."

Cockney Rebel

"And before that, for the last time tonight I promise, Cockney Rebel featuring the wonderful Steve Harley from the album Human Managerie. the song we heard Sebastian."

Elton John

"There's an argument to be had that a lot of double albums would have made a really really great single album had they been edited down a little bit. That accusation however can not be levelled at Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. there's not a duffer on that album. From 1973 Elton John with The Ballad Of Danny Bailey."

Mink Deville

"Right hands up those who thought when they first heard this song that it was Lou Reed."

"And before that Mink Deville. A band that Def Leppard once shared a studio space with back in the mid 80s. So much so that we actually sang, or should I say shouted, backing vocals on a song of theirs called Italian Shoes. But there they are from 1977 the debut single Spanish Stroll."

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

"From their 1979 album Damn The Torpedoes that is Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers with Even The Losers."

The Cars

"They came out of nowhere in 1978. But with a producer like Roy Thomas Baker how could they fail. This is The Cars."

"Before that The Cars from their debut album in 1978 that would take them on to super stardom for a few years at least. The song You're All I Got Tonight."

John Miles

"He would go on to work with the likes of Tina Turner and even front the Jimmy Page band on the Outrider tour back in 1988. But there from his debut album Rebel back in 1976 is John Miles with the hit single Highfly."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time god willing for a bit more of the same only different."

"So for this week I'm gonna leave you with this. Originally recorded back in 1959, my birth year by Johnny Kid And The Pirates. the song that made Fast Eddie Clarke leave the band. This featuring Girlschool is Motorhead from their collection No Remorse with Please Don't Touch. Until next week see ya!."
