Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the very wonderful Planet Rock. ."

Utopia

"I saw that band live on the 4th of August 1979 opening for Led Zeppelin at Knebworth. It was the day before Def Leppard signed their record deal for what was then Polygram Records. And annoyingly they did not play it that day. So I'm playing it now. It is from the 1977 album Ra. It is Utopia and the song Overture: Mountaintop and Sunrise/Communion with the Sun."

Lone Star

"Well we're gonna hear some Led Zeppelin in just a few minutes time. But until then here's a band that were very much inspired by them. This is Lone Star."

"And before that from 1977 from their second album featuring their then new vocalist Mr. John Sloman very much influenced by Robert Plant. The album is Firing On All Six. The song Time Lays Down."

Led Zeppelin

"Now is there such a thing as a bad Led Zeppelin record?. That is the eternal question isn't it. And it's in the eye of the beholder. But there are albums that we go to more often others and my absolute go to album on most occasions is 1975's Physical Graffiti. And there we just heard from said album The Wanton Song."

Don McLean

"Just a few days ago. February the 3rd to be precise, was the 60th anniversary of what's become known as the day the music died. In an icy field just north of a place called Clear Lake in Iowa a plane crashed taking the lives of the Big Bopper, Richie Valens and Buddy Holly. Just 13 years later it was written into legend by one Mr. Don Mclean."

"And before that from 1972 telling the sad story of a plane crash that took out three fantastic rock stars in 1959. Don McLean American Pie."

The Doors

"From the 50th anniversary. Count them my goodness 50 years since it came out. The debut album by The Doors featuring the late great Jim Morrison. the song The Crystal Ship."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. It is time for a little break, when we come back, and when we come back we're gonna revisit the crime of the century. No clues though."

Supertramp

"And before that from 1974 their breakthrough album and what a bit of work it is. It is Supertramp the album Crime Of The Century. The song If Everyone Was Listening."

Jethro Tull

"Whimsical and wonderful that is Jethro Tull from the collection Living In the Past with Wond'ring Allowed."

10CC

"Right then up and over the Pennines to Stockport?. You gotta be kidding me. Absolutely not. This is 10CC."

"And before that, yes some fantastic music came out of that little studio in Stockport. It is 10CC from their breakthrough album Sheet Music with the song Silly Love."

Sparks

"Getting their languages in a bit of a tizzy there in 1974 that is Sparks from their breakthrough album Kimono My House with Hasta Manana Monsieur."

Frankie Miller

"Now if there are two better rock and soul singers then these next couple of gentleman I'd really like to know. Starting off with the most wonderful Frankie Miller."

"Before that again what a shame he never really became bigger than he did. But he did have one or two hit singles and there from the album Full House we heard one of them. The song Be Good To Yourself."

Bad Company

"Well it really doesn't get much better than that does it. What a combination those two are. That is Bad Company featuring the platinum coated larynx of one Mr. Paul Rodgers from their third album in 1975 it is Run With The Pack. The song Sweet Lil' Sister."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It has been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you god willing next week at exactly the same time ."

"So until then I'm gonna leave you with this. Now occasionally we hear a song by a band and it's the only song that we ever hear. And that's OK if it's a great song. And this really is a great song. From 1972 this is Jo Jo Gunne and Run Run Run. Until next week see ya!."
