Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the very wonderful Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again. Hope you are well. What do we have for ya tonight?. Well in my humble opinion sixty minutes of what I'd like to call magnificent music. Starting off with this very exclusive beauty by Cheap Trick."

Cheap Trick

"Yes all one minute and forty one seconds of it and you may by wondering what's so exclusive about that particular song because it is from the Cheap Trick album In Colour which has been out many many many many years. Well this is a version recorded in 1997 with Steve Albini. The legendary grunge producer if you like at the control desk. It never came out. I was talking to Rick Neilsen last week and I said did it ever get a release and he said no. I said OK never mind I won't play it. He said no no no play it please ne my guest. So there for the first time ever on radio anywhere in the world Cheap Trick with a re-recorded yet to be released version of the song Hello There."

The Runaways

"So from the relatively calm waters of Rockford, Illinois, albeit this week particularly cold calm waters. We head over to the debaucherous mid seventies LA glam scene. This is The Runaways."

"And before that we heard The Runaways from their debut album, in 1977 I think it was, the song Cherry Bomb."

New York Dolls

"From the West Coast and the East Coast there. Equally debaucherous no doubt. From 1983 that is the New York Dolls from their debut album, the song Trash."

Yes

"So from the rebel rousing scenes that were the East and West coasts of the USA in the mid seventies we head back to blighty. This is prog-tastic and beautifully sung. This is Yes."

"And before tha Yes from the Yes album with the beautiful song I've Seen All Good People."

Jobriath

"Coming across like Mick Jagger dressed as Ziggy Stardust. That from his debut album in 1973. The first true fairy of rock he announced himself to the world which is probably why he didn't take off. I don't think the world was ready for those kind of announcements in 1973. However the record is phenomenal it is Jobriath, the song Space Clown."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break, when we come back, some dark horticulture with Thin Lizzy."

Thin Lizzy

"And before that from 1979 the Tony Visconti produced album. The title track we heard Black Rose A Rock Legend."

Faces

"From their debut album First Step back in 1970. The first album to feature Rod Stewart on lead vocals having dropped the Small from the name and parted company with Steve Marriott. They became the Faces. The song we heard a great bit of work called Flying."

Mick Ronson

"Featuring all the musicians that played on David Bowie's 1973 covers album Pin Ups. Namely Aynsley Dunbar on drums, Trevor Bolder on bass and Mike Garson on piano. Which probably means that this is an outtake from said album. This is from his second solo album though is Mick Ronson."

"And before that from 1975 his second solo album Play Don't Worry we heard Mick Ronson with his take on the classic Lou Reed/Velvet Underground track White Light/White Heat."

Judas Priest

"These days it's yo be found as a bonus track on the album Killing Machine but back in the day it was Judas Priest's bona fide first ever UK hit single. It is Take On The World."

City Boy

"Long before he became the legendary producer of such bands as Def Leppard, AC/DC, Foreigner, Bryan Adams etc etc. Robert John "Mutt" Lange had what you might call relative success with other bands like The Boomtown Rats and this crowd. This is City Boy."

"Before that City Boy from their debut album also called, funnily enough, City Boy. Produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange. The song Deadly Delicious."

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

"Couple of months ago now had the great pleasure of meeting for the very first time one Mr. Mike Campbell backstage at a Fleetwood Mac show. We were reminiscing about the first time I ever saw him live on stage in 1978 as the special guests for Nils Lofgren when he was playing of course with Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers. There they are from their debut album the song Fooled Again (I Don't Like It)."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time for more what I like to think is magnificent music."

"Until then I'm gonna leave you with this. From 1977 their debut album Rattus Norvegicus. This is The Stranglers and Go Buddy Go. Till next week see ya!."
