Show Intro

"Evening all. Welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. Which this week is coming to you all the way from Santiago in Chile. So far away from the UK. And where have we been since we last spoke?. Well after Rock In Rio. We went and did a fantastic show in a place called Sao Paulo, Brazil with Aerosmith. A couple of days after that we went to a place called Porto Alegre and did a gig with The Who. Both bands on top form. Both bands will be heard on the show tonight. The show that's gonna start off with a band that I watched from the comfort of my hotel room. Even though I did get a visitation from Duff McKagan. This is Guns N' Roses."

Guns N' Roses

"Yes Duff McKagan did come and visit on what was his day off when we played with Aerosmith in Rock In Rio. I watched them from the comfort of my room. They didn't go on stage until well after midnight and played for nearly three and a half hours and one of the highlights of their performance was that song. There's the original from their album Appetite For Destruction. Guns N' Roses with Nightrain."

Aerosmith

"Now very sadly after we played with them in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Aerosmith had to cancel the rest of their South American tour due to the fact that Steven Tyler had to be flown back to the States for what's known as an emergency medical procedure. He's gonna be fine long term but it's something that just couldn't wait. So all I can say on behalf of Def Leppard, and all Aerosmith fans around the world, is get well soon Steven. Get back out on the boards because you guys were on fire when we played with you last week. And here's a song that went down an absolute storm."

"And before that, as a get well soon Steven Tyler, we heard from the album Get A Grip, the song Livin' On The Edge."

The Who

"You know what, even us muso types have bucket lists and I have to say Def Leppard ticked one off the other day when we finally got to play a show with The Who in Porto Alegre in Brazil. What a fantastic night. A huge big stadium. Hanging out with people like Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey. Zak Starkey on drums, who just happens to be the son of Ringo Starr. It was just a fantastic night and one of the highlights for me, that really made the hairs on my arms stand up, was that song there. Taken from their very best of My Generation album. That was The Who with Join Together."

Alice Cooper

"Now amongst some awesome artists on tonight's bill in Santiago, Chile is this gentleman. And let's just hope that he actually doesn't have a Private Public Breakdown. This is Alice Cooper."

"And before that coming on it just a few hours, well a few hours after Mark finishes. Alice Cooper from his brand new album Paranormal with Private Public Breakdown."

The Ramones

"The opening act on tonight's festival in Santiago is one Mr. Marky Ramone. Yep, you've guessed it. Once a member of the actual Ramones. And there he is featured on a song from their collection Mania. The song is I Wanna Be Sedated."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show all the way from Santiago in Chile this week. It's time for a little break, when we come back. two phenomenal guitar players back to back. One from Canada, the other one from Wakefield."

Pat Travers

"Before that Pat Travers from just a couple of years later. I saw him do two nights opening for the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. And when you get to see a band that good with an opening act that good twice. It really cements it in your mind how great they are. Pat Travers from his debut album with Medley Part 1 And 2."

Be Bop Deluxe

"He was no axe victim, he was an axe genius. He being Bill Nelson of Be Bop Deluxe and there he took the phrase and used it for the title of the album and that particular song from Be Bop Deluxe in 1974."

The Quireboys

"Right well having recently released an album called White Trash Blues. The Quireboys have decided to take the dog for a walk."

"And before that from their recently released album White Trash Blues, the brand new single. The Quireboys, Walking The Dog."

The Rolling Stones

"Earlier this week Phil Collen told me that the guitar sound on that song was achieved by Keith Richards plugging into the headphones socket of an old cassette player, running a cable out of the back into his amp and voila. You get something so different, so unique, so Rolling Stones. And from the album Beggars Banquet that is Street Fighting Man."

The Faces

"OK so what do you get one great British band with a fantastic lead singer is covered by another great British band with a fantastic singer?. Well, you get this."

"And before that The Faces featuring the wonderful vocals of Mr. Rod Stewart from their box set Five Guys Walk Into A Bar with their version of the old Free classic The Steeler."

Tin Machine

"Well I like to think that I know what David Bowie was trying to do when he put that band together. but it's very difficult to kind of replicate something that is etched into the hearts of Bowie fans round the globe. That of course being The Spiders From Mars. He tried, it didn't work but it was a nice try. I have very, very soft spot for Tin Machine and there from their second album Tin Machine II we heard the song Baby Universal."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from Santiago in Chile is about it for this week. Been a pleasure as always. I'm gonna go and have a quick shower and get ready to head off down to the venue and check out some of the fantastic acts that are on this festival with us tonight. It is one of the perks of the job. I will however be back with you next week all the way from Monterrey in Mexico on what will be the last night of Def Leppard's run through South America. In fact it will be the last show of 2017. Onwards and upwards to different things."

"So I'll leave you with this. Another act that went down an absolute storm at Rock In Rio. From the album This House Is Not For Sale this is Bon Jovi with We Don't Run. Until next week see ya!."
