The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome. It's the Joe Elliott show once again on the rocking-est channel in the world. Of course Planet Rock. Where else?. This week once again coming to you from Japan. But only just because we are about to embark on a good 12 hour journey all the way to Sydney, Australia. Having just played four fantastic shows in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Sendai. Been a fantastic week. the album went to Number One over here in Japan. So the crowds have been pretty damn good I've gotta say. But we are heading towards Australia tonight. We're gonna have a very Australian feel mostly for the show. Starting off with who else, AC/DC."

Angel City - Take A Long Line

"There's a nice link to the late great Mick Ronson in those last couple of songs we just heard. The band Angel City from an album called Face To Face. The song Take A Long Line which was covered by Mick Ronson on his posthumous Heaven And Hull album as a duet with yours truly actually with Ian Hunter throwing in his mighty vocals on the chorus."

Def Leppard - Battle Of My Own / Jimmy Page

"So as we've been travelling around the Far East. We've had and still have with us Mr. Ross Halfin and his lovely assistant Kazuyo taking pictures and basically documenting the whole tour. And he's been telling us the usual Ross Halfin stories. But one beautiful one that I couldn't help but share with you all is the fact that he recently went to a record store fair with Mr Jimmy Page where they were listening to the new Def Leppard record and Jimmy asked to play that song over and over again. So it gets the stamp of approval from Jimmy Page which is not much of a surprise since it does have a very Zeppelin influence on it. And that is a track from the brand new Def Leppard album. A song called Battle Of My Own."

Live/Baby Animals

"So no doubt you've picked up the thread of why I played those two songs back to back. Same thing goes with these two. These bands you're about to hear are both opening for Def Leppard on the Australian tour."

"From the very oddly titled Shaved And Dangerous that is the Baby Animals there with One Word. And before that from the magificent Throwing Copper album we heard Live with I Alone."

INXS/Australian Tour

"Now we often get visitations when we're in certain areas of the world and in Australia it's no different. And one bunch of people always like to come and visit are the Farriss brothers. Wonderful people. We love them as people. We loved 'em as a band and we really miss their singer who was of course Michael Hutchins ["Hutchence" Joe!...]. The band INXS."

Show Outro

"And that's about it for this week friends. I shall be back with you next week at the same time."

"So as Def Leppard say Sayonara to the land of the rising sun for at least a couple of years. I shall be back with you next week at the same time. All the way from Perth in Australia which will be the last night of our Aussie tour. So until then let's go out the way that we came in with some AC/DC. This from their 1978 album is the title track and there is no better sentiment. Let There Be Rock. Until next week see ya!."
