Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott paid tribute to late keyboardist Dick Decent last night on his weekly Planet Rock radio show.

Dick sadly died earlier last week following a lengthy illness. He played keyboards/piano with the Cybernauts in 1997/2001 and later recorded with Def Leppard.

His first Lep contribution was playing piano on 'Love (Piano Version)' in 2008 and then played piano and contributed backing vocals for both versions of 'Kings Of The World' (regular/different version) in 2011.

Dick also played keyboards and sang backing vocals on 'When Love & Hate Collide' at four Def Leppard shows. Sheffield/London 2006 and Dublin/Donington 2009. Before the 2006 shows Dick was present as the band picked up their Sheffield Legends honour at Sheffield Town Hall as seen in the picture above.

Joe played three tracks (all featuring Dick on piano) during his end of show tribute. 'This Is For You' (a solo Mick Ronson cover), Cybernauts - 'Life On Mars' (Live Dublin 1997) and Def Leppard 'Kings Of The World'. Vivian also paid tribute to Dick on facebook.

The Joe Elliott Show - 22nd September Quotes

"Now it's with great sadness and total disbelief that I have to announce the death of my great friend Dick Decent. Dick was the keyboard played with the Cybernauts and occasionally with Def Leppard."

"He passed away earlier this week after manfully battling a really terrible illness. He leaves behind his wife Sara and their young family but he also leaves behind some really, really great music."

"I picked a couple of things out here that I think showcase his wonderful talent on the old ivories. You were a great man Dick Decent. You're gonna leave a big hole in a lot of people's lives. Say Hi to Ronno for us will ya mate."

"Until then, I'm gonna leave you with another song that Dick did the honours of playing great, great piano on. This is Def Leppard from the Mirrorball album and Kings Of The World. Until next Saturday night God Bless."

Vivian Campbell - 20th September facebook Quote

"It is with great sadness that I heard of the passing of Dick Decent, super-talented musician, friend, and occasional keyboard player for Def Leppard. He was a young man and he should have lived a lot more life. Our time here is short and never fully in our control. Live well and be good to each other."
