The venue is located 1.9 miles to the North West of the city centre and part of the University Of Texas At El Paso.
It was opened in February 1977 as the Special Events Center.
Since 1998 it has been named as Don Haskins Center.
The first time the band had returned to the city since the 1983 incident when disruptive fans in the front rows of the show prompted Joe to make an unfortunate remarks about Mexicans at the following show in Tucson, AZ.
He later apologised but the incident was not forgotten by some in 1988 and a planned show here was taken off the schedule.
This and all future shows in the city were played without incident.
