Blackfoot/Def Leppard @ Compton Terrace By Arizona Republic
Despite being in the forefront of the British heavy metal movement, Def Leppard still has to develop a stage act to its ability on record.
If Sunday's show is any indication, the vitality and crispness on Def Leppard's last album, High 'n' Dry, didn't come through live.
Lead singer Joe Elliott frolicked relentlessly, but the lasting impression was a series of songs that sounded the same.
Reaction to both groups was warm, but not especially so.
Blackfoot was called back for an encore, while Def Leppard came back for one anyway.
Even though the level of applause didn't completely warrant one.
