The venue was located 15.2 miles to the South east of Phoenix city centre and within the grounds of the Legend City theme park.
The venue was also 7.4 miles South of the centre of Tempe city centre.
It was named after local DJ and promoter William Edward Compton.
It was opened in 1979.
The venue closed in 1983 and was then demolished along with the Legend City theme park.
Office buildings now stand on the site of the old venue.
This was the first version of this venue with a second one opening in 1985 7 miles to the South East in Chandler, AZ.
