Def Leppard 2018. Def Leppard 2018

Def Leppard were confirmed Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees for 2019 on this day in 2018.

Fan voting had ended on 9th December with Def Leppard winning by 119,803 votes ahead of Stevie Nicks.

This accounted for one ballot out of 1,000 with other votes cast by various industry people as well as fellow artists. These included both Taylor Swift and DJ Eddie Trunk who are known to have voted for Def Leppard.

The official final total for fan votes was 547,647 votes.

On this day in 2018 Def Leppard were confirmed and announced as 2019 inductees.

They would go to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at the 2019 Induction ceremony on 29th March 2019 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

In all seven current and/or former members were named as inductees - Joe Elliott, Rick Savage, Rick Allen, Phil Collen, Vivian Campbell, Steve Clark, Pete Willis. Along with the induction and acceptance speeches the band were expected to perform three or four songs (which turned out to be true).

Joe's heroes and good friends Brian May and Ian Hunter were instantly thought of as the top choices to induct the band with Brian getting the nod, although Ian would also end up on stage with them.

The other inductees are - Stevie Nicks, The Zombies, Janet Jackson (Miss Jackson if ya nasty...), and three other UK bands The Cure, Radiohead and Roxy Music.

All previous Fan Vote winners had also gone on to be inducted including Bon Jovi in 2018.

All voting ended on 10th December and the five inductees were confirmed. The announcements were made live by the Rock Hall and on SiriusXM radio in the USA.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame was founded in April 1983 and the building is located in Cleveland, OH.

Def Leppard were first eligible for nomination in 2005 which marked 25 years after the release of their debut album 'On Through The Night' in 1980.
