Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen has commented on his recent performance with Slash for the Beastly Ball fund raiser.

The performance was recorded in Los Angeles, CA and broadcast live on 5th June.

The virtual fund raising event was broadcast on YouTube and organised by the L.A. Zoo.

The online event was hosted by actor Joel McHale and featured fellow performers Kevin Cronin (REO Speedwagon) and Weezer.

Phil performed the Jimi Hendrix song 'Fire' as covered in 2011 by Manraze.

The song was also performed at the band's first show in London in September 2005.

Phil was joined for the performance by fellow Delta Deep members Forrest Robinson (drums) and Robert DeLeo (bass/also of Stone Temple Pilots).

They were joined by special guest Slash from Guns N' Roses.

Phil has since commented on the performance which saw him play with Slash for the very first time.

Joe has previously performed with Slash in 1992 at the Freddie Mercury Tribute show.

He went on to play with then ex-Guns N' Roses members Matt Sorum, Duff McKagan and Gilby Clarke when performing with Kings Of Chaos from 2012 to 2014.

Me, Slash, Robert DeLeo and Forrest Robinson did a cover of Hendrix’s ‘Fire’ for the L.a. Zoo’s Beastly Ball.

This was the first time Slash and I ever played together. To quote Keith Richards ‘we were weaving sonic tapestries.’ I love Slash’s playing

We did about five takes. I’m not sure whether this was take two or take five. The studio room we played in was known for being 50’s cult movie director Ed Wood’s main filming studio. He’d grab what he could get.

Coincidentally, rumor has it that he filmed footage of Bela Lugosi in this very room that ended up post humously in Plan 9 From Outer Space. I knew I should’ve brought that guitar."
