Show Intro

"Greetings music lovers. Welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Always a pleasure to be with you. Got 60 minutes of you know what lined up for ya. Starting off with absolutely brand new Ricky Warwick"

Ricky Warwick

"Yes the album's out later this month and about time too #cause it's been recorded for what seems forever. It's a great great record. It is called When Life Was Hard and we just heard the sort of title track 'cause the song's actually called When Life Was Hard And Fast."

Pat Travers

"I got a lot of positive vibes for last week's show when I was melding together the opening act and the headline act from certain shows that I've seen. We're goona go up to the break from here on in with a little bit more. Starting off with Pat Travers ."

"And before that we heard Pat Travers who up until that point the unknown and unheard Pat Travers. Who absolutely blew myself and my mates away that night. The reason I picked the song that we heard tonight because on the night they were giving away flexi-disc singles of that song which tempted us all to go out and buy his debut album. Which we did the eponymously titled Pat Travers with the song Makes No Difference."

Sensational Alex Harvey Band

"Now anyone lucky enough to see that tour may well remember that one of the highlights of the headline acts show was that song that we just heard. The band are the Sensational Alex Harvey Band who at the time in 1976 were promoting. Sort of promoting two albums at once. The soon to be released SAHB Stories. And the just recently released Penthouse Tapes. From which the song that we just heard came from. It's a rework of an old Jethro Tull song called Love Story. Featuring an absolutely wonderful guitar solo by one Mr. Zal Cleminson."

Van Halen

"So as you hear the introduction of this next song fade in I think that's about all you need to know. So without further a do."

"And before that Van Halen who were I guess just about ready to release Van Halen II but were pretty much just playing their first album. The song that we just heard, which was played on that night. And possibly played every show that they ever played. Runnin' With the Devil.

Black Sabbath

"Well according to Wikipedia I saw that particular show on the 16th May 1978 at the Sheffield City Hall and what a show it was. Imagine those two powerhouses together. Incredible stuff. Gotta say I think on the night that Van Halen stole the show to be quite honest. But both bands, well what can you say about Sabbath and Van Halen together. We just heard Black Sabbath who were at the time were promoting that particular album we just heard the title track of which was Never Say Die."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the mighty Planet Rock. And it's time to put to bed the support band headline band section of this show. When we come back after the break, we're gonna be hearing all about the dreams of President Joe. No not the one over there. The one that David Bowie was singing about in 1970."

David Bowie

"And before that David Bowie. The album is being re-released this year with a ton of bonus tracks I am told. Can't wait for that. The album is Man Who Sold The World. The song Saviour Machine."

Trevor Rabin

"I was recently reunited with that album what 42 years after it was originally released. I bought it on a whim back in the day having seen the review in Sounds magazine by one Mr. Geoff Barton. Thinking it sounds like my cup of tea. This gentleman plays everything himself except for the drums and it's held up pretty well I gotta say. That gentleman is Trevor Rabin. Best known to you and I as the guy that helped reinvent Yes in the mid 80s with things like 90125 and Big Generator. The album is called Trevor Rabin. The song we just heard Live A Bit."

Nick Drake

"OK time to just chill a little bit. This is Mr. Nick Drake."

"And before that we heard Nick Drake. Magnificent stuff from the album Five Leaves Left. The song River Man."

Melanie

"As you all well know occasionally I'm want or need to play a song because somebody's passed away. Well I thought I#d just play Melanie because she hasn't. Hooray!. No she just had a birthday. So I thought for a change let's do something a bit more uplifting. She just had a birthday so Happy Birthday Melanie. The song is Lay Down (Candles In The Rain). Once covered by Mott The Hoople on their Wild Life album. Big hit for her back in 1970 I think it was. Maybe '71."

Alice Cooper

"And talking of birthdays. Happy Birthday Alice Cooper."

"And before that Alice Cooper who had a birthday just a few days ago. Happy Birthday once again Alice from the album Killer 1971 when you were a mere child with the opening track Under My Wheels."

Slade

"The rumour mill or should I say the interview in one of the rag top magazines a few months back. Was that there may be some new music coming out from Noddy Holder. Which should be very interesting to hear. But until that moment arises if it ever does. We are stuck with his fantastic back catalogue. And there from the Live At The BBC are Slade with The Shape Of Things To Come."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week exactly at the same time for more of the same only just a little bit different."

"So let's finish the show slightly more down beat this week. It's great as I just said a few minutes ago to be able to announce a couple of birthdays instead of people passing away. But sadly this week we did lose somebody. And somebody whose been an inspiration to the nation for the last year or so. Was the oldest person to ever top the British charts at 100. Raised 32 millions pounds plus for the NHS. I am of course talking about Captain Thomas Moore. In my, in my eyes he's a major. So it's Major Tom. Get the hint. This is my recording of David Bowie's Space Oddity. Dedicated to the memory of Captain Thomas Moore. Until next week see ya."
