Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Still on a break. Still loving life but can't wait to get back out on the road again which happens next weekend. So I'll tell you all about that next weekend. But for this particular weekend, I've got sixty minutes to plough through some, in my humble opinion, some fantastic music. Starting off with The Jam."

The Jam

"Bit of a chicken and the egg fact to that one isn't it. Which one came first. Was it that or was it Holidays In The Sun by the Sex Pistols. The answer is who cares. They're both great songs. That is the first thing that they ever released back in 1977. From their debut album of the same name. It is The Jam with In The City."

Billy Idol

"Now here's a guy that started out in a punk band. About the same time as The Jam actually. But he went on to have phenomenal success worldwide in the 80s. And he's about to do a British arena tour with Tom Verlaine's Television as the opening act. Now that is a tour that I would love to see. This is Billy Idol."

"And before that we heard Billy Idol whose about to embark on a British tour of arenas with Tom Verlaine's Television as the opening act. And as I said I'd really love to see that if I get a chance. We just heard a track from his mega 1983 album Rebel Yell."

Hustler

"In 2020 that band put a new album out called Reloaded having been pretty much dormant since the mid 70s. When most of us let's be honest discovered them if we did indeed. in 1974 when they were the opening act for Queen. That is Hustler from the album of the same name with that almost hit single Get Outa Me 'Ouse. Great song."

U2

"Well as the caped crusaders' side kick Robin may have said holy iconic rock band Batman. It's U2."

"And before that U2. It was the theme tune to one of the Batman films. I forget which one but I took that one from The Best Of 1990-2000 collection. It is Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me."

The Pretenders

"I just recently watched Pistol which is the six part TV show based on the memoirs of Steve Jones the guitarist from the Sex Pistols. Never realised actually how far entwined Chrissie Hynde was in the punk scene. I knew she was on the periphery of it, but I didn't realise she was getting up to all sorts with the Joneses. As in Steve and Nick fro mThe Clash. But boy did she go on to write some incredible songs. There from The Pretenders II is Birds Of Paradise."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. I'm still on a break so I'm just spinning a few tunes that hopefully we can all enjoy. Coming up some Prog-tastic Yes."

Yes

"And before that we heard Yes from the collection Yestory. Or Yes Story. I prefer Yestory. It's a play on words with history I believe. The song we heard of course I've Seen All Good People."

Whitesnake

"Now that my friends is what I would call a long lost B-Side. That only resurfaced when David Lord Coverdale re-released Slide It In on I believe was its 40th anniversary. it's a rework of an old Fleetwood Mac tune. And what a fantastic vocal from David. The song is Need Your Love So Bad."

Journey

"Now if you're a Def Leppard fan you're no doubt already aware of the fact that we're smack bang in the middle of a 36 date stadium tour all over the USA and Canada with Motley Crue. And if you are a Leppard fan you probably remember the fact that four years ago we did a similar thing with this band. This is Journey."

"And before that Journey another band that we toured with in 2018 from that fantastic album Escape we just heard Stone In Love."

Eddie Money

"42 years ago Def Leppard were bottom of the bill on a stadium show that was headlined by Bob Seger And The Silver Bullet Band. If my memory serves me correctly we went on about 11:30 in the morning. And also on that bill was the gentleman that we just heard. Cut to three years later we would close out the Pyromania tour of America in the Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego where he would be our special guest along with Motley Crue and Uriah Heep. He is Eddie Money. Sadly no longer with us but left some fantastic music behind. And there from his greatest hits collection The Sound Of Money we just heard Two Tickets To Paradise."

Cheap Trick

"And while we're on the subject of bands that we have toured with. Here's a band that we have shared the stage with on many occasions. And they are absolutely just top notch. This is Cheap Trick."

"And before that Cheap Trick. They really just are a fantastic band. The album is One On One. The song She's Tight."

The Runaways

"She is currently doing her own version of that song on the Stadium Tour. She is Joan Jett. As in Joan Jett And The Blackhearts. But that's her original band. And the original version of The Runaways with their debut album in 1976 with Cherry Bomb."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time from Boston, MA. For we shall be once again back out on the road."

"So as we say a fond final farewell to Mr. Bernard Cribbins. Who can ever forget his performance in Fawlty Towers. We shall also belatedly wish Sir Mick Jagger a very happy birthday. For he was 79 years young earlier this week. There is hope for us all. In fact next week I will be one year older and apparently one year wiser. So until then I shall leave you with this. In my opinion his best ever vocal performance. this is Mick Jagger with The Rolling Stones from Beggars Banquet with Street Fighting Man. Until next week see ya!."
