Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you on my brand new slot on a Saturday afternoon. But in actual fact I'm recording this Thursday night into Friday morning. As I drive at 75 miles an hour from Nashville, TN to Jacksonville, FL. 14 hour drive after just completing a gig. An incredible gig in front of over 40,000 people at a massive stadium in Nashville. Absolutely amazing."

"As is the show that we're about to do. I'm on a rock and roll bus. Let's get this show started with a rock 'n' roll train. Courtesy of AC/DC."

AC/DC

"What a fantastic comeback album that was. 2008 I believe it was. Black Ice is the album. AC/DC is the band and the track, he opening track of the album in fact, Rock 'n' Roll Train."

Alice Cooper

"Now it occurred to me when I was putting this show together that I never played this next gentleman for quite a while so I thought you know what I need to put that right. So ere he is. He gets my vote. This is Alice Cooper."

"And before that yes, he does have my vote. It's Alice Cooper from the album The Eyes Of Alice Cooper with Man Of The Year."

Guns N' Roses

"Now there may be one or two listeners out there that think a band like Def Leppard has this huge rivalry with its peers. It's not really true. It's more like camaraderie . And I'm gonna sound like a complete name dropper right now so apologies for this. But this week alone I've been texting or emailing with the likes of Brian May, David Coverdale, Jon Bon Jovi. And Duff McKagan who was playing at Marlay Park this week in Dublin which is literally less than ten minutes from my house. I was almost gonna offer my house up to Duff as a dressing room. And I thought how cool would it be to play on my show this week some Guns N' Roses that featured Duff in a more leading role. So there we have it. From the 1993 covers album The Spaghetti Incident that is Guns N' Roses featuring Duff McKagan on lead vocals with a fantastic cover of The Damnded's song New Rose."

Slash/Myles Kennedy

"And that camaraderie I speak of goes beyond just respect. It's also us playing together. A few years ago I played in the Kings Of Chaos with Duff McKagan. And a few months ago Phil Collen played with this next gentleman. Also a member of Guns N' Roses. Featuring Myles Kennedy this is Slash."

"And before that we heard the mighty featuring the wonderful wonderful vocals of Mr. Myles Kennedy with the brilliant Starlight."

Def Leppard

"Well I just felt that I had to play that tonight because we just left Nashville and the Queen Of Nashville sang on that song with us. She wasn't there tonight because she's on tour with Robert Plant in Europe. She is of course Alison Krauss. But her son Sam was there. And her son Sam helped co-arrange the vocals that Alison sang on that particular song. Brand new Def Leppard from the album Diamond Star Halos. The song is This Guitar."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you from on the road literally on the road at 70 odd miles an hour. Somewhere between Nashville, TN and Jacksonville, FL. Coming up another band that have hit the big stages this summer. With a song that they haven't played live for a very long time."

The Rolling Stones

"And before that The Rolling Stones who have just added that song to their setlist for the first time in decades. They recently just played Hyde Park. I've seen some YouTube footage and they were absolutely on fire. From the album Sticky Fingers we just heard Can't You Hear Me Knocking."

Mott The Hoople

"A song that would feature in Ian Hunter's solo album just a few months later. But that one abandoned at the time only to see the light of day on the Anthology box set that came out in 1999. That is Mott The Hoople with their version of Lounge Lizard."

Cheap Trick

"OK so next up we've got two absolute bona fide power pop, pop rock classics. So let's start off by going one on one with Cheap Trick."

"And before that the mighty Cheap Trick from their album One On One with that absolutely brilliant bit of work called If You Want My Love."

Todd Rundgren

"Absolutely brilliant stuff there from Mr. Todd Rundgren. It's taken from his Anthology collection. It is the huge hit for him back in 1972. I Saw The Light."

Heavy Metal Kids

"Now this next band were loved equally by rockers and punks. So let's hear it for the anvil chorus. And more cowbell please. This is the Heavy Metal Kids."

"And before that another band that I saw live at the Sheffield Top Rank. The Heavy Metal Kids. Featuring the late great Gary Holton. From their second album Anvil Chorus we heard Blue Eyed Boy."

Ultravox

"Yes long before Midge Ure took the reigns and turned them into a kind of a New Romantics band, they were a punk band fronted by John Fox. They are Ultravox. That was their first ever release. These days you can find it on this album called Rare Retro. It is Young Savage. I saw them live at the Sheffield Top Rank. They were amazing."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, from somewhere in between Nashville, TN and Jacksonville, FL, is about to for this week. What a great vibe it is doing the show at what 65/70/75 miles an hour. Breaking the speed limit. Going through some potholes and some twists and turns that you hopefully can't hear as much as I can feel."

"So until next week which shall be coming to you from Detroit Rock City. So no guesses as to what my opening song will be next week. That's for this week about it. What am I gonna leave you with. One of my favourite songs from one of my favourite albums from one of my favourite ever artists. 1972 is the year. The album is Slider. The band T. Rex with the huge hit single Metal Guru. Until next week see ya!."
