Show Intro

"Aye Aye. Welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the magnificent Planet Rock. We have lined up for you tonight some fantastic music. Sixty minutes worth of in my humble opinion some wonderful music. And what better way to start my show tonight on the mighty Planet Rock than with the mighty Status Quo."

Status Quo

"From 1973 when they were at the absolute peak of their powers. That is Status Quo from the album Hello. With the magnificent Caroline."

"Now when Deep Purple auditioned for drummers and Ian Paice came along and sat down on that drum stool maybe, just maybe his audition started off something like this."

"And before that we heard Deep Purple from the Machine Head album with Pictures Of Home."

Ellen Foley

"Featuring one of the greatest intros to a song ever committed to tape. And for years I always thought it was Mick Ronson because he co-produced the album. But no it was actually played by Ian Hunter. It's from the 1979 Ellen Foley album Night Out. The song a cover of a Rolling Stones tune called Stupid Girl."

Crosby, Stills, Nash And Young

"Now as you can imagine I'm a huge fan of harmony vocals. After all they've been a massive part of the Def Leppard sound ever since we started out. Here's a couple of artists that do a very similar thing and don't they do it well. Starting off with Crosby, Stills, Nash And Young."

"And before that Crosby, Stills, Nash And Young from that fantastic album that is DeJa Vu with Carry On.

Yes

"Absolutely brilliant stuff. That is Yes from the Yes album with I've Seen All Good People."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It's time for a little break and when we come back, some dark horticulture with Thin Lizzy."

Thin Lizzy

"And before that Thin Lizzy from 1979. Produced by one Mr. Tony Visconti. The first album to feature Gary Moore on guitar all the way through. It is the title track of the album Black Rose. It's actually called Róisín Dubh (Black Rose): A Rock Legend."

The Babys

"Absolutely my favourite ever Babys song. That is from the album Broken Heart. The song Isn't It Time."

The Beatles

"Right then here's Paul McCartney covering a Badfinger song. Nah not really."

"And before that it's from The Anthology III collection. It's credited to The Beatles but it's actually Paul McCartney all on his own. Playing piano, singing and rattling a tambourine. He gave the song to the band Badfinger. And they covered it exactly the same. Which is why if you've never heard this one, but you have heard Badfinger, you'll go oh wow they are very similar. It is a song called Come And Get It."

The Move

"If my memory serves me correctly that was the last hit that that band ever had back in 1971. That band are The Move. And they split into two very different camps. Roy Wood would go off to form the band Wizzard. And Jeff Lynne would go off to form the behemoth that was and is the Electric Light Orchestra taking Bev Bevan with him. The song we just heard from a best of The Move collection is called Tonight."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at, guess what. Yeah exactly the same time."

"So until then I'm going to leave you with this. From an album that both myself and Phil Collen still argue to this day that we were the first people in the UK to buy it. 1973 Warner Brothers. It is Montrose. Their debut album. And this is Bad Motor Scooter. Until next week see ya."
