Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you this week all the way from Wembley Stadium. The first of our four British and Irish shows. London, Lytham, Dublin, Glasgow. Four to go. What a fantastic summer this band has had. Gonna start the show off this week with a gentleman who played with Def Leppard the first and only proper time that we have played Wembley Stadium before. This is Brian May."

Brian May

"Yes the 20th April 1992 was so far Def Leppard's only ever appearance at Wembley Stadium. As part of The Freddie Mercury Tribute show. There was ourselves, Extreme, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, and we were just the opening acts. And then of course there was a plethora of different artists who got up to sing with Queen. Apparently, pub quiz lore, I was the first person to ever to sing with Queen after the passing of Fred. 'Cause I did half of Tie Your Mother Down which was their opening tune. But earlier n in that evening Def Leppard played three songs and one of those songs was with the guy that opened tonight's show. It was Now I'm here, a Queen song performed by us and Brian May. Who we just heard with Brian May And Friends which included Eddie Van Halen. On a re-release of a song that originally came out in 1983 when Queen were let's say between albums. He was having a bit of a laugh with his mates in LA. And what a laugh it turned out to be. Fantastic stuff. Remixed for 2023. Really cleaned it up. Came out really well. It is Brian May And Friend. It is Star Fleet."

Lambretta

"Now here's a weird bit of six degrees from Kevin Bacon for ya. The Freddie Mercury Tribute show in 1992 also featured as part the Queen band Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath. Well I've heard rumour that Tony Iommi used to date one of these ladies. This is Lambretta."

"And before that going back about 20 years now, even further. A band I believe from Sweden called Lambretta. Detuned big riffage with massive pop choruses is probably the best way to describe them. The song that we heard, Bimbo."

The Raven Age

"I think it was last week that I mentioned that while we were backstage at Hellfest, the festival in France that I had a brief meeting. Beautiful but brief meeting with Lord Harris. Steve from Iron Maiden. I've not seen him for a long long time. He had a small entourage with him and one of those entourage was his son George. Who happens to be in a band called The Raven Age. They have a brand new album out called Blood Omen. The song that we just heard from that album Serpents Tongue."

Crossbone Skully

"And while we're still in festival mode. Let's just go back to Graspop in Belgium where one of the bands that was on the festival was the Hollywood Vampires. And we all know that the Hollywood Vampires feature Johnny Depp on guitar. Joe Perry from Aerosmith on guitar and of course Alice Cooper. But they also feature Alice Cooper's touring guitarist when Alice goes out on his own. A gentleman called Tommy Henriksen. He's got his own band called Crossbone Skully."

"And before that we heard Crossbone Skully. Featuring Tommy Henriksen. A member of the Hollywood Vampires and Alice Cooper's touring band. The album is coming out soon I think. Is going to feature at least on one track Phil Collen. But more interestingly it's actually produced by Robert John 'Mutt' Lange. Who has not retired. We know that because he#s been dabbling in production with the likes of Muse and Bryan Adams. But before you ask it's highly unlikely, so let's not go there. The song that we just heard, the title track of the album Evil World Machine."

OK GO

"Now if you've never seen the video to that particular song. I beg you please got to YouTube and check it out. One of the greatest uses of running machines that you will ever see. Outstanding choreography. It's just brilliant to watch. The band are OK GO. The album is Oh No. The song is called Here It Goes Again."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. On the eve of Def Leppard's Wembley Stadium performance. Coming up, and I know I played him last week, but we're going there again. Alice Cooper."

Alice Cooper

"And before that. Yes I know I was talking all about him before the break and I played him last week. But I just had to go there again because he has recently re-released two albums extended and remastered. Killer and School's Out. Last week it was Killer. this week I'm going with School's Out. A fantastic bit of work called Gutter Cat vs. The Jets. Good old Alice Cooper."

Lindisfarne

"That is one of those bands that when you hear them for the first time you just know they're never gonna leave your system. Absolutely stunning stuff there from 1970. It is Lindisfarne from an album called Nicely Out Of Tune. The song their first ever hit. Lady Eleanor."

The Clash

"Well seeing as I'm here let's head back to the 1977 streets of London which were infested by rats, covered in trash and full of some great upcoming bands. This is The Clash."

"And before that we heard The Clash from 1977 cleaning up the streets. Well not necessarily getting rid of all the rats and the trash. but they did in their own opinion get rid of some bloated rock. From the self titled debut album we heard Complete Control."

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

"Produced by Jeff Lynne of ELO fame. That is Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers from an album called Full Moon Fever. And what an album. The song is Runnin' On A Dream."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, from Wembley Stadium in London, is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time from home because we will have finished the tour in Glasgow on Thursday. But I gotta go because I gotta get ready for a gig.

"So until next week let's go out with a bit of a bang shall we. From the box set that is Taking No prisoners. This is Doctor Feelgood and She's A Wind Up. Till next week see ya!."
