Show Intro

"Evening all and and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Good to be with you once again. What have we got lined up for you tonight. Well you know already don't you. 60 minutes of what I like to think is fantastic music. Starting off with Cheap Trick."

Cheap Trick

"The absolute kings of melodic rock in my humble opinion. That is the mighty Cheap Trick from 1979 title track of their amazing album Dream Police."

The Rolling Stones

"No doubt you're as happy as I am the live venues are starting to open up more and more. In a few minutes time a couple of old friends reunited playing and touring together. But first up a band once again hitting the stage reluctantly with a new drummer. This is The Rolling Stones."

"And before that we heard The Rolling Stones from that wonderful album that is Aftermath with Paint It Black."

Doctors Of Madness

"Smack bang in the middle of their British tour that is T. V. Smith once of The Adverts. And Richard Strange who was once Kid Strange of the Doctors Of Madness. Playing together. Doing individual sets. Richard is even reading extracts from his memoirs. The song that we just heard a really old tune recorded many moons ago actually once with Dave Vanian of The Damnmed. The song is aptly titled Don't Panic England."

The Adverts

"Right as I just mentioned T. V. Smith once of The Adverts. Richard Strange once of the Doctors Of Madness. Let's hear what they used to get up to."

"And before that The Adverts who I saw live at the Sheffield Top Rank in 1977. And what a noise they made. Fantastic punk band. The song that we just heard Gary Gilmore's Eyes."

Doctors Of Madness

"Wonderful stuff there from the Doctors Of Madness. The second album Figments Of Emancipation. The track, what a great bit of work, I absolutely love that song. My favourite Doctors song of all time. In fact Richard even mentioned that I liked that song in his memoirs. Oh what an honour. The song is Out."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up we're going off to climb Jacob's Ladder with Rush."

Rush

"And before that from the 40th anniversary re-release of the album Permanent Waves. We heard Rush with Jacob's Ladder."

Jethro Tull

"Now when I was about 11 years old my Mum came back from town and she said you and your mate Nigel, you like listening to that band Jethro Tull don't you. Yes Mum we do. Well I've bought you a present. And she got me this five track seven inch EP of Jethro Tull songs. I was blown away honestly. Still am to this day that she even discovered it. I've played the lead off track of that EP many times. It's a song called Life's A Long Song. Which I had the great pleasure of playing live with Ian Anderson about three Christmases ago in Bradford Cathedral. However today I decided to play something off the B Side of that single. The track we just heard Dr. Bogenbroom."

The Who

"Now this next tune may well have been around for over 50 years but it never gets old. This is The Who."

"And before that The Who from 1969's classic album Tommy. With the immortal Pinball Wizard."

Queen

"What an absolute classic band they were. They had it all. They were emotional, they were comical, they were rock, they were opera. They were everything. They are Queen. From the 197 - let me work this one out. '78 album Jazz we just heard Bicycle Race."

Punishment Of Luxury

"Now these next couple of artists could genuinely only ever have come from the UK. So aren't we lucky. This is Punishment Of Luxury."

"And before that from the fantastic album that is Puppet Life we heard Punishment Of Luxury with Puppet Life.

Jet

"Not to be confused with the Australian band of the same name. That is UK's Jet from the mid 70s. Featuring the likes of Peter Oxendale on keyboards who would go on to play with Ian Hunter in 1977. For the Overnight Angels album. And also in the 80s with Frankie Goes To Hollywood. They also featured John's Children's Andy Ellison on vocals. And Davey O'List also once a member of Roxy Music. The song that we just heard Nothing To Do With Us. Fantastic bit of work."

Show Outro

"And with that staggeringly interesting piece of information it's time for me to go folks. What a great pleasure it is always to be with you. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time. So don't move that dial."

"Until then I shall leave you with this. Another great British band. They are The Struts. The album is Young And Dangerous. And this is Primadonna Like Me. Until next week see ya!."
