Show Intro

"Greetings my friends and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Great to be with you again. I have got in my humble opinion sixty minutes of some fantastic music lined up for ya this week. Starting off with Lenny Kravitz."

Lenny Kravitz

"Management stablemates us and that boy. But funnily enough I've only ever met him one time. And that was back in 1993 when Def Leppard had the great pleasure of having Lenny Kravitz open for us at a festival in Vienna. And there taken from his Greatest Hits album. One of his absolute classics Are You Gonna Go My Way."

Sensational Alex Harvey Band

"Now here's a gentleman that I never had the pleasure to meet unfortunately. Nut I met his band many times and they were sensational. Still are. The Sensational Alex Harvey Band."

"And before that we heard the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Fantastic stuff from the album The Impossible Dream with River Of Love."

Crossfire Eagles

"Yes young Savage is back. Brand new EP released yesterday actually. It's called Major Arcane. It is the Crossfire Eagles. It is in my humble opinion the best bit of work that they have done so far. That is the last track from, I think it's a six track EP, song is called Strawberry Fields."

The Allman Brothers Band

"Now imagine you've done a gig somewhere in America and you're on one of those massive and fantastically expensive tour buses. And you're sat up front with the driver. It's pitch bllack outside. It's 2am. The moon's up. You're drifting past the odd bit of traffic. He#s got the radio on. This is the kind of thing that you will hear day in day out. All the time. And it sounds great in that particular environment. This is The Allman Brothers."

"And before that The Allman Brothers who as I said in the introduction sound mighty fine when you're drifting across the American mid west in the middle of the night. And you hear them drifting across the airwaves. It's from an album called Ildewild South. It is Midnight Rider.

Pat Travers

"Featuring our old mate Nicko McBrain on the drums. A member of Iron Maiden now for what, almost 40 years. Pete Mars Cowlin on the bass and what a player he was. It is Pat Travers from his second album back in1977. The album is Makin' Magic. The song we just heard What You Mean To Me."

"You're listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. It's time for a little break and when we come back, we're gonna celebrate an album that was fifty years old this week."

Alice Cooper

"And before that Alice Cooper Second Coming."

"Yes happy birthday Love It To Death. Thank you so much for the last 50 years. The pleasure that you've brought me and countless millions of other people no doubt. It is Alice Cooper. The album came out in 1971. And we just played two songs there from that album 'cause you can#t really separate them. We started off with the Second Coming and followed it with the immortal Ballad Of Dwight Fry."

AC/DC

"Right then here's a little bit of canine cannibalism for you. This is AC/DC."

"And before that a band who themselves are not ever far away from a bit of tragedy. We only have to think about recently Malcolm Young and of course all those years ago Bon Scott. It is AC/DC from the Let There Be Rock album with Dog Eat Dog."

Hustler

"Now the story of this folks has to be read to be believed. So I suggest you go out and buy the album and read the liner notes. It is a band called Hustler. You may remember I've played them on my show a couple of times. They had a minor hit with a song called Get Outta Me 'Ouse. And are possibly best known for being the opening act on Queen's first ever headline tour of the UK back in 1974. Now Micky Llewellyn the original guitar in Hustler passed away about seven years ago. Steve Haynes their singer had a series of catastrophic strokes that pretty much left him unable to talk and specifically sing. But luckily for Hustler in the 80s they tried to reform. It didn't work out but they did make some demos and they managed to salvage Steve's vocals from those demos and put brand new backing tracks behind them. And the result is very successful. It's actually a really good record. It's called Reloaded. The track that we just heard Night Creatures."

"OK so when you get something old and something new and you put it together kinda sounds a little far fetched that it could work but trust me it does. This is The Who."

"And before that The Who from the last album which came out about 18 months ago now which is just called Who. It's a 1965 Pete Townshend demo with a 2020 string section put on top of it and for me it really really works. Great stuff. The song is called Got Nothing To Prove. And Pete Townshend no you don't."

Roger Taylor

"Why that song never ended up on a Queen album is beyond me. It's such a fantastic bit of work. It is Roger Taylor from his debut solo album back in 1981. The album is Fun In Space. The song that we heard Magic Is Loose."

Show Outro

"So on that note folks I shall take my leave. Been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then I shall leave you with this. It's taken from the box set Rock And Roll Gentleman. This is Dr. Feelgood and Baby Jane. Until next week see ya."
