Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott was recently interviewed about the new Diamond Star Halos album and discussed new songs.

'Diamond Star Halos' is the band's 12th studio album.

As announced on 17h March it will be released on Friday 27th May 2022.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone Joe talked about the making of the album and the upcoming 3 year Stadium Tour plans.

During his interview Joe discussed some of the new songs including 'This Guitar' which features guest vocals from Alison Krauss.

And also 'Angels (Can't Help You Now)'.

This Guitar

Joe talked about how Phil first wrote the song 19 years ago and that it was considered for both 2008's 'Songs From The Sparkle Lounge' and the 2015 'Def Leppard' album.

Vivian contributed slide guitar on the track which also includes pedal steel guitar used by many country artists.

This song and 'Lifeless' have been previously described as being "ventures into Americana".

Angels (Can't Help You Now)

One of two songs Joe says he wrote on piano as he had for much of the songs on his 2019 Down 'n' Outz album 'This Is How We Roll'.

Joe comments that the demo version made the rest of the band react by saying "holy shit".

Joe Elliott - "I wrote “Angels” and “Goodbye for Good This Time” and put them on the pile when we were compiling songs."

Joe Elliott - "When everyone heard the demos, they were like, “Holy shit. Well, that’s a keeper."

Joe Elliott - "I pushed the envelope probably beyond what people would expect us to do."
