DEF LEPPARD's VIVIAN CAMPBELL On THE STADIUM TOUR 2023 Plans/Health Update

Def Leppard 2022. Def Leppard 2022

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has been interviewed and mentioned The Stadium Tour plans for 2023 as well as giving a new health update.

The Stadium Tour second leg started in Boston on 5th August and is scheduled to run until 9th September in Las Vegas, NV.

The tour will resume in 2023 with shows in the UK, Ireland and around Europe with no announcement of the specific dates as yet.

Joe has of course mentioned UK, Irish and European headline and festival plans for 2023 with Phil also saying the tour will hit South America, Japan and Australia at some point.

Joe's first mentioned of UK shows was back in March but as yet no announcement has been made but seems likely towards the end of this tour leg and may come before any of the 2023 festivals announce their line-ups.

Vivian spoke to Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM for his trunk Nation show on 3rd August.

Vivian talked about The Stadium Tour 2022, 2023 touring plans, Last In Line, new single/live show, difference between DL/LIL, health update/current treatments, New DIO Holy Diver Remix, 35th anniversary of Hysteria, and playing the songs live.

Listen to the 25 minute interview below.

The Stadium Tour 2023

Vivian indicated that the tour with Motley Crue would indeed play around the world without being drawn into giving any details.

Fortunately his band mates have already done so including Joe's last tour mention in July when talking to Classic Rock Magazine about 3 UK/Ireland stadium shows.

Health Update

Vivian was also asked about his health and gave his usual positive update stating that his is still able to live with his illness and continues to schedule the needed treatments.

Vivian Campbell Interview - 3rd August 2022 Quotes - (Transcribed by dltourhistory)

The Stadium Tour 2022/First Leg

Vivian Campbell - "It's been fantastic other than getting rained on every single night pretty much. I think the first nine shows straight we had rain. And I mean like heavy heavy rain."

Vivian Campbell - "But yeah it's been brilliant. The crowds have been fantastic. You know it's been great to work with Motley and Poison and Joan Jett. Everyone's been getting on good and behaving nicely."<

The Stadium Tour Plans/2023 Shows

Vivian Campbell - "There's been a lot of interest in the Stadium Tour with us and Motley. And there's a lot of talk about taking that overseas next year and going global with that."

Vivian Campbell - "So we'll see. I mean that would be exciting to do that you know. We haven't played overseas in many years obviously."

Vivian Campbell - "And yeah that would be fun. Hopefully the grown ups can put that together."

Vivian Campbell - "Well I don't wanna speak for Nikki but if I were a gambling man I would put money on it. You know what I mean."

Vivian Campbell - "I think that they're having a lot of fun. As are we and the package works you know. So it's a big world. We wanna go out there and play it. So I would guess it's probably gonna happen."

Current Health Update

Vivian Campbell - "Just kicking the can down the road you know. So Yeah take it as it comes you know."

Vivian Campbell - "There's very very few cancer doctors in the world who will ever say that you're cured. You know the best you hope for is remission. So that's not to say that cure isn't possible."

Vivian Campbell - "But, you know, I'm pretty much of the mindset that I'll be dealing with this for the rest of my life. It is what it is."

Vivian Campbell - "It's kind of like going to the dentist. Just a bit more involved."

Current Treatments

Vivian Campbell - "Nothing so invasive or intrusive. Nothing that's gonna sideline me I hope. It's always - the hardest part of the whole thing for me is trying to schedule treatments so it doesn't interfere with my work."

Vivian Campbell - "That becomes even more difficult when it's more than one band. But you know we may it work."

Vivian Campbell - "I hope never to have to miss another Def Leppard show."
