DEF LEPPARD In EDMONTON, AB On THE STADIUM TOUR 2022 (Show Report/Setlist)
Def Leppard played show number 34 of The Stadium Tour in Edmonton, AB last night with 17 songs performed.
The show took place at the 56,302 capacity Commonwealth Stadium.
The first visit to Edmonton since July 2019 on the Hits Canada tour.
The 13th show by the band in Edmonton and first time at this venue.
The first visit here was in July 1983 on the Pyromania tour with Uriah Heep in support.
That venue was played for 7 of the 13 shows here under two different names - Northlands Coliseum and Rexall Place and is located around 2 miles from Commonwealth Stadium.
So most of the shows played in Edmonton have been in roughly the same location.
Show #34 - Last Night In Canada
A second show in a row in Canada and the last of the three shows in the country in 2022.
And in keeping with all of the shows on this tour another massive stadium.
Over 45,000 fans watching show #34 of the tour.
A contrast from the smallest show played in this city in 1996 during the Slang tour when a secret club show was played at the now gone Thunderdome in front of a few hundred people.
Another 7:30pm start for the second time in a row and a return to a full daylight start.
'Take What You Want' kicked off another great night for the band and crowd.
A quick "Good evening Edmonton!" from Joe and they were straight into 'Let It Go'.
One thing was clear throughout the show - the crowd were very loud and sang along to each song.
Maybe more than a few people travelled here from Montreal, home of one of the loudest crowds the band have ever played to.
No Roof/No Need
A very almost European football style stadium in Edmonton with two massive stands on either side and no roof.
Luckily no roof was needed as the sun shone and then set during the performance.
The open end of the stadium behind the stage showed views over the buildings of Edmonton city centre in the distance.
By the time 'Photograph' ended the night Joe exclaimed "Holy Sh*t!" as he surveyed the vast crowd before the final goodbyes.
And now a return to the USA for two final shows in California and Las Vegas.
And then 2023 tour announcements are expected and awaited because as Joe said again on his radio show on Saturday 3rd they are - "bringing (the tour) to the rest of the world next year".
