Show Intro

"Watcha boys and girls. How ya doin'?. Welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the amazing Planet Rock. Whoo. Got a great show for ya lined up tonight. Including some absolutely brand spanking new music."

"But hang on a minute I just have to make a quick phonecall."

Luke Spiller - "Hello?"

Joe - "Like?."

Luke - "Yes mate."

Joe - "It's Joe here from the Leppards. What are you doing?."

Luke - "Mate. Great to hear from you. Basically me and The Struts were currently in lockdown recording this album in like ten days and amazing that you just called 'cause basically I have this big fat chorus that I need your big old pipes for baby. What do you say?."

Joe - "I'm in sunshine. I'm in."

The Struts

"Yes folks an absolute world exclusive first ever play on the radio anywhere in the world. That is The Struts from their brand new album Strange Days. Which does even come out till October 16th. It was written in and about lockdown."

"In ten measerly days they put this album together in a little house in Hollywood Hills. And it's a great album. Got some amazing guests. Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine is on one song. Albert Hammond Jr. from The Strokes is on another."

"I grew up listening to music by Albert Hammond Snr. his Dad. Oh dear. It also features myself and Phil Collen on the track that you just heard. It is a song called I Hate How Much I Want You."

"It just harks back to the days of 1973 and Slade and Sweet and all that lot. I absolutely love it. The album is Strange Days. Look out for it pretty soon. The band The Struts, The song I Hate How Much I Want You."

Status Quo

"Woo. Well after all that this is Status Quo."

" And before that the mighty Quo from the album Piledriver with paper Plane."

Creedence Clearwater Revival

"Sung by the only guy on the planet that could give the original singer a run for his money. A fantastic version of an old Little Richard tune their by Creedence Clearwater Revival. That singer being the amazing John Fogerty. It is from an album called Bayou Country. The song Good Golly Miss Molly."

Rush

"Right then from rock in its most basic form to rock in its more slightly complex form. This is Rush."

"And before that we heard Rush from the 40th anniversary re-release of the album it is the title track Farewell To Kings."

Aerosmith

"You know to a lot of people, specifically in Europe, there was no Aerosmith before 1986 when they were releasing things like Rag Doll etc. But to you and I, those of us in the know. We know that there was an Aerosmith way before then. In fact they actually started in 1971. And as we all know they made some fantastic music in the 70s. That should never be forgotten. Be neither should be the fact that they made some fantastic music posy 80s and there is a fantastic example. From the 2001 album Just Push Play which was produced by the wonderful producer that is Marti Fredericksen. That is the mighty 'smiths. No not Morrissey's lot, Aerosmith with Outta Your Head."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the only station that matters Planet Rock. It's time for a little break, and when we come back, some absolutely killer music from Alice Cooper."

Alice Cooper

"And before that Alice Cooper from 1971 just a couple of years later. The album Killer. The song, all 8 minutes and 10 seconds of the most wonderful, Halo Of Flies."

T. Rex

"Two very important heads od states from the 70s the glam rock/shock rock period. Even though they both have their rroots in the 60s. We just heard there from a compilation called 20th Century Superstar. Credited to T. Rex, but it's actually Tyrannosaurus Rex from their 1969 album Unicorn. The song King Of The Rumbling Spires."

America

"So from shock rock or glam rock to west coast rock, but with a bit of a twist. This is America."

"And before that we heard a band called America. Again American yes but they were the kids of US Air Force personnel deployed to the UK. So they actually formed in London. But of course sounding very west coast. From an album called Homecoming. The song we heard California Revisited."

The Eagles

"The start of something very very special and very very massive. Just four short years later they would blow the world wide open with their album Hotel California. I am of course referring to The Eagles their from their debut album back in 1972. Their debut album recorded at the Olympic Studios in London and produced by Glyn Johns. Best known for his work with all those classic British rock bands. So so much ror their west coast roots.."

New York Dolls

"Right well you know what I normally do after two kind of laid back songs. You're not wrong this is the New York Dolls."

"And before that the New York Dolls from 1973. Fantastic stuff from their debut album of the same name. The song Jet Boy."

The Clash

"Written on the piano by their drummer Toppy Heaton. Ironically one of their biggest ever hits. That is The Clash from the album Combat Rock with Rock The Casbah."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. Been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then gonna leave you with this. From their debut album of the same name this is The Pretenders and Tattooed Love Boys. Until next week see ya. "
