Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the fantastical Planet Rock. And also welcome to October. In this strangest of years it's still flown by pretty quickly. As will this next 60 minutes of what in my humble opinion is some wonderful music. Starting off with Wolverhampton's finest Slade."

Slade

"From their brand new collection Come And Feel The Hitz. Spelt of course HITZ, as it should be. 43 tracks over two discs. It's just about everything that you'd wanna hear from that band. That band are Slade. The song we just heard Number One for god knows how many weeks back in 1973. Cum On Feel The Noise."

UFO

"Now it's quite a few weeks since we celebrated the life and times of one Mr. Pete Way. And I haven't played any since. So here's some UFO fot you."

" And before that we heard UFO from their first album on Chrisilis Records. The first real UFO album as far as we're concerned. The album in Phenomenon. The song Oh My."

The Who

"I suppose you could say it was a curiosity on the latest Who album. But in actual fact it's one of the greatest I think that they've done for a long long time. It's a 1960s demo of Pete Townshends that he put a whole new string arrangement on and plonked it on the end of the latest Who album as a bonus track. It's a great bit of work called Nothing To Prove."

Peter Gabriel

"So when you decide to leave a very very successful band to go solo. You better have the goods to back it up. And boy did he. This is Peter Gabriel."

"Before that we heard Peter Gabriel from his debut solo album in 1977. One of many albums he released called Peter Gabriel. Or at least three. That one referred to often as the blue rainy car album. Song we just heard, wonderful piece of work called Modern Love."

Bad Company

"As promised last week when I played The Babys' Piece Of The Action. There is Bad Company. The title track of their third album Run With The Pack. Both of those songs are very spookily similar to each other. Specifically at the end. And I think that's down to a very similar string arrangement and the engineer or producer of both of those albums was one Mr. Ron Nevison."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the magnificent Planet Rock. It's time for a little break, and when we come back, well we are Forevermore in love with Whitesnake."

Whitesnake

"And before that David Coverdale's Whitesnake from the recently released Rock Album. All brand new remixes. The song we heard Forevermore."

Family

"It's a teensy weensy bit of an oxymoron to say that a prog rock band could have hit singles. But that band had one of two hits indeed. In fact not the song that we just heard. That was just your regular bonafide album track. But that band are family from a fantastic album called Bandstand. The song we just heard My Friend The Sun."

Lou Reed

"So from prog rock and stadium rock let's slide on over to a little bit of art rock. This is Lou Reed."

"And before that Lou Reed from 1973. The follow up album to Transformer. This one produced by one Mr. Bob Ezrin. Fantastic album called Berlin. The song Lady Day."

Doctors Of Madness

"So when Richard Strange under the guise of the Doctors Of Madness released an album's worth of music that was basically about a dystopian wasteland it all seemed rather dark. In fact the album was called Dark Times. 2019. But in fairness turns out he was a bit of a soothsayer because he's pretty much predicted everything that is happening this year. It's quite quite weird. It's a brilliant record. It is yours truly duetting with him. In fact I think between the two of us we make half a decent Dave Gilmour. It's very Pink Floyd-ish that song. The song is Blood Brother."

Bryan Ferry

"And talking of Lou Reed. Here's one of his songs reinterpreted by a gentleman who when he wasn't fronting Roxy Music, loved to dip his toe into other people's material. I am of course referring to Mr. Bryan Ferry."

"And before that we heard Bryan Ferry mostly fronting Roxy Music back in the day but went solo quite often. There from a Platinum Collection we heard his version of the Lou Reed song What Goes On."

Punishment Of Luxury

"Two acts there from the wonderful city that is Newcastle back to back. We just heard Punishment Of Luxury. The title track from the box set Puppet Life The Complete Recordings."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time for more of the same only just a little bit different."

"So tonight gonna leave you with this. A few days after what would have been his 73rd birthday. Sadly taken from us way too soon. Just two short weeks shy of his 30th birthday. We're gonna celebrate the life and times of one Mr. Marc Bolan. The leader of the wonderful band that were T. Rex. From the 1972 Slider album this is Telegram Sam. Happy Birthday Marc Bolan. And until next week see ya. "
