31 Years Ago DEF LEPPARD Perform PSSOM At The Brit Awards

Def Leppard performed a playback version of Pour Some Sugar On Me at the Brit Awards 31 years ago on this day in 1989.

The ceremony which took place at the Royal Albert Hall.

This show became infamous for the terrible presenting duo of Mick Fleetwood and Samantha Fox. It was also the first year the event was shown live on BBC TV.

This was a notable performance in the history of the band was it was the second-to-last ever appearance by Steve Clark in the UK.

The band performed a playback version of 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' with lasers.

As with most Brit Awards footage the performance has now been taken down from YouTube but footage of Joe can still be seen via the playlist link.

Joe presented the Best British Male award alongside singer Joan Armatrading which was won by Phil Collins (who almost produced the 'Hysteria' album before Jim Steinman).

Def Leppard were nominated in the Best British Band category for the second year in a row alongside Erasure (who won), The Christians, Pet Shop Boys and Wet Wet Wet. They lost had out to Pet Shop Boys the year before but did not attend as they were on tour in the USA. Footage of this award and the nominee clips can be seen on the YouTube playlist.
