4 Years Ago DEF LEPPARD Announce Summer Tour 2016 With REO SPEEDWAGON/TESLA

Def Leppard 2016. Def Leppard 2016

Def Leppard announced 45 dates for the Summer Tour 2016 with Reo Speedwagon and Tesla on this day in 2016.

45 dates were confirmed for the tour which was due to start on 22nd June and run until 10th October through the USA and Canada.

The first date was in Mansfield, MA at the Xfinity Center on 22nd June and the last in Cedar Rapids, IA at U.S. Cellular Center on 10th October.

Among the new dates was an extra show added to the May tour leg in Huntington, WV.

The tour dates included a return to the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA for the first time since 27th October 1988. The last show of the Hysteria world tour and last with Steve Clark. A number of other cities were also due to be played for the first time in many years.

At this time 55 shows had been confirmed for the rest of 2016 after the three shows played in January.

The first major tour since Joe recovered from his vocal problems in January 2016 that were caused by severe laryngitis. For this reason there were more spaces between dates and no three-nights-in-a-row as on recent tours.

The band played 59 shows in the USA in 2015 from 23rd June in Tampa, FL to 17th October in Jacksonville, FL with Styx and Tesla.

They continued to support the self-titled Def Leppard studio album released on 30th October 2015 at these shows.

Two songs from the album had been played in North America before the 2016 tour - 'Let's Go' (x8) and 'Dangerous' (x1) - the only new songs to have been played from the album at the time of the annoucement.

REO Speedwagon and Tesla were confirmed to continue as support acts after they were already confirmed to play the last six shows of the nine that were rescheduled to May.
