Voice Over Intro

"T. Rex, Mott The Hoople and David Bowie were just some of the artists who ignited his fuse to make music. His career is celebrated with Induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as lead singer for Def Leppard. Joe Elliott. Now he's sharing his passion for deep classic rock with stories and music from his personal collection. Welcome to Joe Elliott's Songs From The Vault on Deep Tracks."

Show Intro

"Greetings fellow music lovers and welcome once again to SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. I'm Joe Elliott and this is Songs From The Vault where over the next 60 minutes or so I shall be playing you some great music from my own personal collection. Artists that I grew up loving. Artists that were a big influence on me, their work and maybe also a few stories here and there."

"Let's get this particular show started shall we by climbing that mountain with some holy communion. This is Todd Rundgren's Utopia."

Utopia

"And before that. And again I reiterate I can not believe this but for the second year running Todd Rundgren did not get inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. And that my friends is a criminal act. We need to work on this for next year. I shall certainly be giving him my vote one more time to see if we can get him in at the third attempt. There with his band from 1977. The band Utopia. The album Ra. the song Mountaintop And Sunrise/Communion With The Sun."

David Bowie

"Recorded during the Ziggy Stardust sessions in 1971 that is actually a re-record of a single that David Bowie released in 1970 as part of The Man Who Sold The World sessions 'cause the B-Side of the original version was Black Country Rock. That particular version, although recorded for Ziggy Stardust, was eventually left off the album and didn't see the light of day until it was used as a B-Side in 1974 for the single Diamond Dogs. It is a track called Holy Holy."

T. Rex

"And talking of the Hall Of Fame. As much as I'm very sad that Todd Rundgren didn't get in, I'm ecstatic at the fact that T. Rex did. They were nominated for the very first time and they got in. So they will be inducted. Now sadly there's only one surviving member of T. Rex and that is one Mr. Bill Church their drummer. Fantastic drummer. So it's very apt that on this next song he's being introduced beautifully by the leader of that band Marc Bolan. This is T. Rex."

"And before that we heard T. Rex. Nominated and will be inducted into the 2020 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The album Slider came out in 1972. The song that we heard Baby Strange."

Down 'n' Outz

"The latest song to radio from the current Down 'n' Outz album right there for ya. The album came out last year. It is called This Is How We Roll. That particular song is called Creatures."

Be Bop Deluxe

"You are listening to SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. This is Songs From The Vault. I'm Joe Elliott and this is Be Bop Deluxe."

"And before that we heard Be Bop Deluxe. Great heroes of mine because they were from Yorkshire. And not many bands came out of Yorkshire. There was Joe Cocker back in the late 60s. And after that pretty much Be Bop Deluxe were the only thing. They featured the wonderfully talented Mr. Bill Nelson on lead vocals, lead guitar and all songwriting. the album, their debut album, is called Axe Victim. The song that we heard Jet Silver And The Dolls Of Venus. Yes I believe he was also a fan of David Bowie."

Japan

"Before that a band called Japan. Who were in my humble opinion part of one of the biggest mismatches in rock and roll partnerships that I've ever witnessed. In 1977 they were the special guests on a tour of the UK by Blue Oyster Cult. And can I just say I was very ashamed of my fellow Sheffield rock fans for the behaviour and the vitriol that they threw towards that band on the night. they didn't deserve it because they were magnificent. If you've never heard Japan before check out their first two albums. The second album is Obscure Alternatives. The first album which we just heard a song from is called Adolescent Sex. The song Suburban Love."

Voice Over

"He's toured the world as lead singer of Def Leppard. These are his stories and music from his personal collection. Joe Elliott's Songs From The Vault on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks."

Peter Gabriel

"Magnificent production there by one Mr. Bob Ezrin. That is Peter Gabriel from his solo album Peter Gabriel. Confused?. Yes well you would be wouldn't ya. I am because Peter Gabriel has out I believe three maybe four solo albums called Peter Gabriel. That one however is the very first solo album after he left Genesis. 1977. The one that featured his UK hit single Salisbury Hill. The song that we just heard though. Very nice down and dirty especially on the piano. Bit of blues for you called Waiting For The Big One."

Roxy Music

"You are listening to SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. I'm Joe Elliott. This is Songs From The Vault. It is now time to go and live a little bit of the country life with Roxy Music."

"And before that we heard Roxy Music from 1973 the album is Country Life. The song All I Want Is You."

The Rolling Stones

"Proving that there's more to rock and roll than just big crunching guitars. That particular band, especially when Brian Jones was a member, you always got the impression that if they saw something lying around in the studio they'd pick it up and say here what does this do let's give it a go. Listen to that song it's got maracas, marimbas, xylophones, glockenspiels. It's crazy stuff. it was a huge hit in the UK for a guy called Chris Farlow. But of course that is the original version from an album called Aftermath. it is Out Of Time."

Doctors Of Madness

"You're listening to Songs From The Vault on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. I'm Joe Elliott and this is one of my favourite bands of all time and you've never heard of them. This is the Doctors Of Madness."

"And before that the Doctors Of Madness who I saw opening for be Bop Deluxe the band that we heard a little while ago. From their second album Figments Of Emancipation. Wow, try saying that after three whiskeys. The song that we heard Marie & Joe."

Zombies

"Fellow inductees along with Def Leppard in the 2019 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony. And I was so glad to see it because I've been such a fan for a long time. That is the Zombies from the album Odessey and Oracle with a fantastic song called A Rose For Emily."

Show Outro

"You have been listening to Joe Elliott's Songs From The Vault on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. And that's about it for this particular show. Thanks for listening. I'll be back with you next time for more of the same only just a little bit different."

"So I'll leave you with this particular show. From an album called Young And Dangerous. This is the wonderful Struts with Primadonna Like Me. Till next time be good to each other."
