Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again. This time all the way from Nashville in Tennessee the home of country music. But not this weekend. Oh no no no. It is the Exit 111 Rock Fest. Last night's headliners were Lynyrd Skynyrd. Tomorrow night it's Guns N' Roses. Tonight it's Def Leppard and there are some fantastic bands on this weekend. I'm looking at ZZ Top, Ghost, Mastodon, the Deftones, Alter Bridge, Black Stone Cherry. I could go on. I really could, but I'd rather play you sixty minutes of amazing music."

"Starting off with this absolutely brand spanking new, who else, the Down 'n' Outz."

Down 'n' Outz

"The album was released yesterday. It is called This Is How We Roll. It is my other band the Down 'n' Outz and the song that we just heard Boys Don't Cry."

Dr. Feelgood

"Right these next two songs are all about Jane. Starting off with Dr. Feelgood."

"And before that Dr. Feelgood from their Singled Out A-Sides collection with Baby Jane."

The Rolling Stones

"You can just imagine them can't you back in those old black and white days. In their Carnaby Street pinstripe pants and their Chelsea Boots and roughs and big flowery jackets. Looking like some kind of urban version of Blackadder. Yes it is The Rolling Stones from the album Aftermath. The song the most wonderful bit of work called Lady Jane."

Wayward Sons

"OK so I started the show off with brand new Down 'n' Outz which was released yesterday. Here's a song from another album that was released yesterday featuring the same drummer. Take a bow Phil Martini. This is fantastic. This is the Wayward Sons."

"And before that we heard the Wayward Sons. Brand new album out yesterday just like the Down 'n' Outz. Featuring Phil Martini on drums just like the Down 'n' Outz. The album is called The Truth Ain't What It Used To Be. Toby Jepson what a writer. Great song. The song is called Fade Away."

Ginger Baker

"Yes welcome once again to the they are dropping likes flies section of the show. It just never stops does it. That grim reaper is a pesky little chap. Rest in peace Ginger Baker of course once Cream. A band I never really got into I'll be honest. Brian May told me many years ago. He says Joe you gotta listen to Cream man they're awesome. I gave it a go and I just, it just never really twigged. Couple of songs I really liked but I will give him his due. He was a fantastic drummer. But for me that's one of the best things I ever heard him play. It is from an album called Who Are You: An All-Star Tribute To The Who. It is Ginger Baker with Peter Noone from Herman's Hermits with a great version of Magic Bus."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. This week coming to you all the way from Nashville in Tennessee. It is time for a little break and when we come back, we're gonna get epically bombastic with The Damned."

The Damned

"And before that a song originally a hit in 1968 for Barry Ryan. It was written by his twin brother Paul. But the version that we just heard is a fantastic remake by The Damned."

Collective Soul

"One of the nicest guys in rock and roll fronts that band. His name is Ed Roland. The band are Collective Soul. And from their 1994 debut album Hints, Allegations And Things Left Unsaid. We just heard the opening track which is Shine."

Be-Bop Deluxe

"Ok so no remakes here. Here's a couple of songs all their own work. Starting off with Bill Nelson's Be-Bop Deluxe."

"And before that Be-Bop Deluxe from an album originally released in 1975 called Futurama. It was produced by Roy Thomas Baker in between a couple of Queen albums no doubt/ But that is a 2019 remix of the song Stage Whispers ."

Rush

"Me and my mates used to frequent a fantastic rock club in Sheffield at the Top Rank every Sunday night called Improvisions. And the DJ Charlie used to play that song week after week and it really got under your skin. And it's still there to this day. That from their debut album back in 1973 is Rush. The song Finding My Way."

Brian Protheroe

"OK we're gonna bring it right down for a little while now. Starting off with Brian Protheroe."

"And before that Brian Protheroe. More of an actor than a singer but my god what a great song that is. And a huge hit for him back in I think about 1974. The album is called Pinball And Other Stories. The song itself is called Pinball."

David Bowie

"The one David Bowie album that every member of Def Leppard would claim to own from day one including the then 8 year old Rick Allen. It is David Bowie 1971. the album in Hunky Dory. The song we just heard great stuff Oh You Pretty Things."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Nashville in Tennessee, is about it for this week. It has been as always a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time but from where I do not know. We'll have to make that one up as we go along."

"So for this week I'm gonna leave you with this. Very sadly just a few days ago Ian Hunter had to announce the cancellation of a Mott The Hoople winter US tour because of a really bad case of Tinnitus. Now this can be a career killer so let's just hope that they can find some kind of solution for Ian's problems because Pete Townshend's managed it. Maybe, maybe fingers crossed, pun intended, Ian can do the same. So let's remind ourselves of what amazing work this man is capable of. From his debut solo album back in 1975 this is I Get So Excited. Until next week see ya."
