Show Intro

"Greetings music lovers and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Always a pleasure to be with you. We've got sixty minutes of great music as usual. In my humble opinion lined up for ya tonight."

"But it's a little different tonight because there is a competition tonight. And that competition is to win a Down 'n' Outz CD. A signed Down 'n' Outz CD. We'll get into the details of that in a little while. Let's get the show rolling shall we with Mountain."

Mountain

"Mick Ralphs from Mott The Hoople and Bad Company of course was a huge fan of Leslie West the guitarist in that band. And no wonder what a great player he is. That is Mountain with Don't Look Around."

Traffic

"OK so what is this competition I hear you ask. Well as I mentioned it is a signed by yours truly CD of the brand new Down 'n' Outz album This Is How We Roll. And this is how you can win it. You have to answer the following question. What do the first five songs on tonight's show all have in common. And that does include the song that we just heard which is Mountain with Don't Look Around. The question is what do the first five songs in tonight's show all have in common. You have until Wednesday October 30th at 5pm to email me your answer using my page on the Planet Rock website. You got it?. Good. Here's Traffic."

"And before that Traffic. They say John must die. Well it's a little radical but if you say so. Steve Winwood and the boys there with a little bit of Empty Pages."

Jethro Tull

"From one of those albums that's never far from my mind or in fact my fingertips because I'm what's known as a lifer. You like an album you like it for life. And that is one of those albums. That from 1971 is Jethro Tull. The album is Aqualung. The song Mother Goose."

Sandy Denny

"So any clues yet?. Are you getting close. Anybody got any ideas?. Well keep thinking. Let's go to the softer side of rock for a little while shall we. This is the late great Sandy Denny."

"And before that we heard Sandy Denny. Fantastic work from a 5 CD collection called A Box Full Of Treasures. The song that we heard Late November."

Mott The Hoople

"From the album Wild Life which some of the band humorously referred to as Mild Life for its more softer content. But it is a great album. It is Mott The Hoople. The song The Original Mixed Up Kid which was covered by the Down 'n' Outz in 2014 on the album The Further Adventures of..."

Down 'n' Outz

So there you go there's your five songs. if you think you know to the question which is what do those songs have in common. Please email me at my page at the Planet Rock website. The answers have to be in by 5pm on Wednesday October 30th. Good luck.

"It's time for a little break and when we come back, we're gonna play a song from that album that you just might win."

"And before that the Down 'n' Outz. Again brand new. The album is This Is How We Roll. The song we just heard Let It Shine."

Wayward Sons

"There you go you see it's not just old stuff on this show. There's two albums that have only been out a week. They both got released on the same day. That is the Wayward Sons. The album is The Truth Ain't What It Used To Be. The song Us Against The World. Great, great bit of work well done guys."

Foo Fighters

"One of the best music videos ever made was for this song. This is the Foo Fighters."

"And before that we heard magic stuff from the Foo Fighters. And what a fantastic video that they made for that song. The album There Is Nothing Left To Lose. The song of course Learn To Fly."

Rattles

"Leading the way for the likes of the Scorpions, Michael Schenker, Rammstein. Yeah you guessed it they're German. That is the Rattles with a song called The Witch. Which was a big hit in the UK back in `970 I believe it was."

Peter Gabriel

"Now he's not known for rocking out much, but when he does my goodness it's awesome. This is Peter Gabriel."

"And before that we heard Peter Gabriel from his debut album Peter Gabriel. Most of his solo albums were called Peter Gabriel. Let's call that one the Bob Ezrin produced album. The song Modern Love."

Garbage

"That is Garbage from the album of the same name. The song Supervixen. I love the way that the cut silence into that track. A very clever technique."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time only from Sacramento in California where Def Leppard will be performing our last gig of 2019."

"So until then I'm gonna leave you with this. From my favourite album that they ever made this is Motorhead. The album is Bad Magic. The song Evil Eye. Good luck with the competition and see ya!."
