Show Intro

"Greetings fellow music lovers and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again. We have in my humble opinion sixty minutes of great music coming up. It's a very global village this particular show. So we will start off quite locally with Mr. Ian Hunter."

Ian Hunter

"To this day I will never figure out why that song was never a hit. It was a standalone single in 1977. It came out just after the album Overnight Angels. It is Ian Hunter. The band were called Overnight Angels. The song England Rocks."

Sensational Alex Harvey Band

"England does indeed rock, but so does Northern Ireland, Southern Ireland, Scotland. and Wales as we shall find out over the next few minutes. Starting off north of Hadrian's wall. This is the Sensational Alex Harvey Band."

"And before that the Sensational Alex Harvey Band from 1973. The album is Next. The song that we heard Swampsnake."

Lone Star

"The singer John Sloman may well have become my new BFF at least on email. But he will always be an amazing singer to me no matter what. That is Lone Star from their album, the second album in fact. The only album that John Sloman ever sang on for that band. It is called Firing On All Six. The song The Bells Of Berlin. What a great song."

Thin Lizzy

"Right then over the sea if you're listening from the UK. Over to where I am right now. Dublin, Ireland. Guess who?. Yes, Thin Lizzy."

"And before that south of the border on the Ireland of Ireland we went to Dublin to revisit Thin Lizzy's Jail Break album. It's the 2011 remix that was done by yours truly and Def Leppard's sound guru Ronan McHugh along with Brian Downey and Scott Gorham. It is the remix of Emerald."

The Undertones

"That was supposedly John Peel's favourite ever song and boy he heard a few. Just goes to show you that a few chords and a great hook can just about turn anybody on. There Northern Ireland's finest from Derry. The Undertones with Teenage Kicks."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break and when we come back, we are going down under to take some mental notes with Split Enz."

Split Enz

"Andsbefore that from New Zealand we heard Split Enz from their debut album which was remixed for the UK market by Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera. The album is called Mental Notes. The song that we heard Stranger Than Fiction."

Jet

"There are two Jets. There are the English Jet which were around in the mid 70s that featured ex members of The Night, and Sparks. Future members of Ian Hunter's Overnight Angels. Ex members of John's Children. It was a plethora of ex members. They had the one album. I played it a few weeks ago actually. But that is the Australian Jet from earlier on this particular century. From their debut album Get Born we just heard Look What You've Done."

Rush

"OK so over to Canada and as hinted at last week. Here is the other UK Top 40 hit that a certain band had."

"And before that Rush from the album Permanent Waves and what an album it is. The song Spirit Of Radio."

Neil Young

"Two Canadians artists of very contrasting styles there. Absolutely my favourite ever Neil Young song, That is from the album Harvest. The song is The Needle And The Damage Done."

Rattles

"Right then from Canada all the way back to Europe and to Germany and here's one I bet you've not heard for along time. This is The Rattles. "

"And before that The Rattles. It was actually a hit in the UK. Great bit of work called The Witch."

Scorpions

"I saw that particular line up at the Sheffield Top Rank when that album came out. The stage was about a foot high. Everybody sat cross legged on the floor. It was a very strange experience. That is the Scorpions from the Uli Jon Roth era. From the album Virgin Killer the song Catch Your Train."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure taking you all over the world and introducing you or reintroducing you to some of this wonderful music that has been part of the soundtrack of our lives. Or some of our lives at least for the last 30, 40 years."

"Gonna leave you though this week back in the UK. London via Liverpool I suppose. This is the title track of an album recorded by the biggest band that ever walked the earth. Ladies and gentleman The Beatles and the Magical Mystery Tour. Until next week see ya!."
