Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again. Had a fantastic week. We've been locked up in the wilds of North Yorkshire rehearsing for the impending festival tour that Def Leppard are embarking on this summer. Which includes of course the Friday night at Download at Donington Park. Um more on that later on."

"We have fantastic music for you tonight. Here's a song that I once played and I said dare I play this?. Well here's a band that are saying dare we cover it?.Well show us what you've got Puny Human."

Puny Human

"If you're around my age when that song came out in 1973. And you were, hmmm, you like it but you daren't admit it. Yes you went in and bought it and came out the shop in a brown paper bag didn't you. Either over the record or actually maybe even over your head. And if anybody asked you who have you just bought you'd be saying oh I just got the new single by I don't know Slade or whatever. But no that song is a great great song. The original was done by The Osmonds. That is from an album called Sucking In The 70s Back In The Saddle. Basically it's a double album compilation of some mad bands doing some mad covers. And that is a band called Puny Human with their version of Crazy Horses."

UFO

"Now here's another band that were mad. they really were mad in the 70s but they are coming to a very glorious and dignified ending. This is UFO."

"And before that UFO fantastic stuff. From the album The Wild, The Willing And The Innocent. The song Couldn't Get It Right."

Styx

"Toured with them many times. Fantastic band live. They were a bit of a weird band for me in the 70s. I couldn't get my head round the fact that they couldn't make their mind up whether they were a rock band or a prog band. And with the likes of JY singing lead vocals on songs like that gave it a bit more of a rock edge. That is from their greatest hits album. It is Styx with Miss America."

The Kinks

"Now here's a couple of songs with almost identical intros and both wonderful. Starting off with The Kinks."

"And before that The Kinks from the album The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society. the song we heard Do You Remember Walter?."

ELO

"Now I am not suggesting for one minute that Mr. Jeff Lynne ripped off the intro of that Kinks song. But they are very very similar. I think though either way we give hi ma free pass because he has written some amazing songs. He doesn't really need to do that kind of thing. He is Jeff Lynne. They are the Electric Light Orchestra. And from the album Out Of The Blue we just heard one of their biggest ever hits Mr. Blue Sky."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break, and when we come back, a song originally featured on The Who's Quadrophenia album. This time though it's reimagined.."

Joe Elliott

"And before that from an album called Who Are You which is a tribute to the band The Who. The band on that particular song are Mr. Carmine Appice on drums. Brother of Vivian's Last In Lines Vinny. Rick Wakeman on keyboards. The late great Huw Lloyd-Langton once of Hawkwind on guitar and yours truly handling the vocals. The song the Pete Townshend written classic Love Reign O'er Me."

Alice Cooper

"That song dates back to 1966. Originally recorded and written by a band called The Left Bank. That version though is the unmistakable of Mr. Alice Cooper. From his album Dirty Diamonds the song Pretty Ballerina."

Van Halen

"Right then I think it's time for a little bit of Sunset Strip mayhem don't you?. Starting off with Van Halen."

"And before that Van Halen from their debut album back in 1977 with the Atomic Punk."

Guns N' Roses

"I just the review for Duff McKagan's new solo album. Sounds very interesting. He co-erote it with a guy called Shooter Jennings. Nashville based artist so it's gonna have a bit more of a country rock feel. So that should be interesting. I'm gonna check that one out over the next couple of weeks. See if there's anything that I can play on the show and I don't see why there shouldn't be. We all love Duff McKagan don't we?. But there we just heard him from his big machine band which is Guns N' Roses. From the album Appetite For Destruction. the song, fantastic stuff, Night Train."

Faces

"Right then five guys walk into a bar. Nah, it's not a joke, it's the Faces."

"And before that the Faces from their magnificent box set which happens to be called Five Guys Walk Into A Bar. With one of their greatest hits Cindy Incidentally."

Bob Seger And The Silver Bullet Band

"I remember buying the seven inch single of that when I was a nipper and it still sounds great to this day doesn't it?. From the Ultimate Hits collection Rock And Roll Never Forgets. That is Bob Seger And The Silver Bullet Band with Hollywood Nights."

Show Outro

"And that my friends just about wraps it up for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time but from Helsinki in Finland where we shall be preparing for our second show of this European festival run that we are on having just started a couple of days previously at Sweden Rock."

"I can feel it's gonna be a great summer. So what a great way to end this week's show. There's gonna be plenty of this for the next month or so. From the album Let There Be Rock. Yes AC/DC and Dog Eat Dog. Till next week see ya!."
