Show Intro

"Welcome one and all to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It's great to be with you, it is really. No I'm not joking it really is great to be with you. What have we got for you tonight?. Well in my humble opinion sixty minutes of magnificent music. Starting off with this one going all the way back to 1976. This is Montrose."

Montrose

"From their fourth and final album. The second one to feature Bob James on vocals who replaced Sammy Hagar. That is Montrose with the title track Jump On It."

Foo Fighters

"Right then one by one here they come. This is the Foo Fighters."

"And before that, from the same year 2002, we heard the Foo Fighters from the album One x One. We heard the song Halo."

Silverchair

"Came up on a random playlist the other day. I haven't heard it for so long. In fact 2002 is when that was released. It is Silverchair all the way from Australia. Their EP The Greatest View, it is the title track."

Radio Stars

"Right then with a very comically inaccurate geographical lesson here are the Radio Stars."

"And before that the Radio Stars from a collection of songs called Somewhere There's A Place For Us. With the very catchy but very wrongly titled there are No Russians In Russia."

Nazz

"I still can't get my had around the fact that Todd Rundgren didn't get nominated into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for this year. As an Inductee myself I'm entitled to vote next year so should his name come up I shall be ticking that little box alongside his name absolutely one hundred percent I will. After all he has been making records since 1968 when I wa still in junior school. And there is a great example of his work. the band are the Nazz. The album is the Nazz from 1968. The song Open My Eyes. Fantastic bit of work."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break and when we come back, we are gonna enjoy a grand illusion with Styx."

Styx

"And before that Styx from the album Grand Illusion. One of the best that they ever do live Miss America."

Stray

"Saw them live at the Sheffield Top Rank back in 1977. Little did I know at the time that they'd been around for about ten years by then already. They are Stray from their Time Machine Anthology album. We heard the song One Night In Texas."

Julian Lennon

"Well as the saying goes like Father like Son. This is Julian Lennon."

"And before that Julian Lennon and doesn't he sound just like his Dad. With a great song, actually I believe it was his second ever hit. The song Stick Around."

Fleetwood Mac

"An album that was so derided when it came out I actually avoided buying it but I did pick it up way way after the fact and I actually really like the album. It is Fleetwood Mac. It's the title track of the album Tusk which was the follow up to Rumours."

Heavy Metal Kids

"Well crisis what crisis. No that was last week and that was Supertramp. This time there really is an issue. This is the Heavy Metal Kids."

"And before that from the album Anvil Chorus. The Heavy Metal Kids who also lost their singer. Not necessarily in January though, but the late great Gary Holton fronting that band. The song we heard Crisis."

David Bowie

"As us rock fans are well aware the month of January can be a very melancholic month. It does seem to be the time of year where the grim reaper wakes from his hibernation and decides to scythe down some of our heroes. I'm thinking of the likes of Bon Scott and Phil Lynott and of course three years ago this week David Bowie. From 1973 there the album Aladdin Sane. The song Prettiest Star."

Show Outro

"Of course this week also sees the 28th anniversary of the passing of the late great Steve Clark. So I couldn't possibly ignore that could I. So for this week I'm gonna leave you with this. It has rightfully so over the years become known as Steve's signature tune. From 1981 and the High 'n' Dry album this is Switch 625. Till next week see ya!."
