Show Intro

"Evening one and all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. I sincerely hope that everybody had a very very Merry Christmas and are looking forward to a Happy New Year. Tonight's show is a sixty minute run through of well pretty much anything that floated my boat over the last 12 months. Yes it is my summary of the things that I thought were pretty cool in the year 2019."

"Starting off with the Black Star Riders."

Black Star Riders

"That my friends is from their fourth , and in my humble opinion best album by far. The Black Star Riders. It is the title track Another State Of Grace."

Liam Gallagher

"OK it may be labelled Indie Rock, but it rocks. This is Liam Gallagher."

"And before that with some phenomenal driving piano. Which of course if you've heard the Down 'n' Outz I'm a huge fan of. It is Liam Gallagher from the album Why Me Why Not. The song Halo."

Dirty Honey

"Now as far as I'm aware they only have the E.P. out so far but there's a lot riding on this. There's a lot of heat on this band in the US. Let's hope that it spreads to the UK. And after all The Def Leppard E.P. which came out in 1979 didn't guarantee any success. We didn't really have any world wide success until 1987 which was what eight years later. So let's hope and pray that this is one of those new bands that breaks through. They are called Dirty Honey. The E.P. is funnily enough called The Dirty Honey E.P.. The song When I'm Gone."

Planet Rock Allstars

"Now this was for a very good cause. It's also not bad."

"And before that put together by the leader of the Wayward Sons. My good friend Mr. Toby Jepson. It is the You're The Voice E.P. which featured the likes of yours truly, Alice Cooper, Justin Hawkins. The list is so long I couldn't possibly get them all in before 7pm tonight. But it was all for a good cause. Poor old Wyatt got a really sore bum but he did complete it. He finished his bike ride. Ended up at this year's Rockstock and the song which made a lot of money for the charity Mind which is a fantastic thing to do is his version and our version, everybody's version!, of the old John Farnham classic You're The Voice."

Wayward Sons

"From this year's The Truth Ain't What It Used To Be which is a great album. It is the Wayward Sons. The song Us Against The World."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. It's time for a little break on what is my 2019 round up. When we come back a track from what is probably my favourite album of the year."

Duff McKagan

"And before that Duff McKagan. And I said probably the best album because it's the one album that I've gone back to ever since I first heard it and played it at least two or three times a month. It is a great great great album. It is called Tenderness. The song that we heard Don't Look Behind You."

Doctors Of Madness

"They hadn't made a new album in 41 years and then they come out with this thing that is just an absolute monster. And I did mention before the break that the Duff McKagan album is probably my album of the year. It's a close call between that and what we just heard which is the Doctors Of Madness. And the only reason I said that is kind of out of a false modesty I suppose because I'm on six of the nine tracks on the Doctors Of Madness album. So I'm very biased towards it but I wanna play it fair as best I can. That is an amazing bit of work. The album is called Dark Times. The song is Blood Brother."

The Who

"Now to an album that I sent off for. It was delayed in its delivery so I got it about a week after it came out. I was chomping at the bit to hear it and I was not disappointed. This is The Who."

"And before that we heard The Who from the album simply called Who. It is only heir second album of new material since 1982 but well worth the wait. The song Detour."

The Darkness

"I mentioned when I played that song a few weeks ago that the accompanying video for that song is probably the funniest and most hilarious thing I have seen since the Foo Fighter's Learn To Fly video which was many many many years ago. It is The Darkness from the album Easter Is Cancelled with the wonderful Rock And Roll Deserves To Die. make of that what you will."

ELO

"Now this next band, somewhat like The Who, you might think haven't had much new music out recently. But in actual fact they, or should I say he, have been releasing records but they just sort of went under the radar. But not this one. This one went straight in at Number One all over the world. This is Jeff Lynne's ELO."

"And before that brand new Jeff Lynne's ELO. The title track From Out Of Nowhere."

Collective Soul

"Featuring the superb writing talents of one Mr. Ed Roland that is Collective Soul from their latest album Blood with a song called Over Me."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week and indeed this year. It has been a real pleasure bringing the shows to ya. Hopefully you'll stick around and we'll do it all again next year too."

"So how are we gonna end tonight's show?. Well you didn't really think that old big head wasn't gonna play any did ya? Def Leppard have had a very busy 2019, but the only new music that I have been involved in is the Down 'n' Outz. So until next year I will say this. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. I hope you're all looking forward to a very happy and healthy and successful 2020. This Is How We Roll. Until next year see ya!."
