Voice Over Intro

"T. Rex, Mott The Hoople and David Bowie were just some of the artists who ignited his fuse to make music. His career is celebrated with Induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as lead singer for Def Leppard. Joe Elliott. Now he's sharing his passion for deep classic rock with stories and music from his personal collection. Welcome to Joe Elliott's Songs From The Vault on Deep Tracks."

Show Intro

"Greetings fellow music lovers and welcome once again to Joe Elliott's Songs From The Vault on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. Great to be with ya once again. Coming to ya from Las Vegas, Nevada where Def Leppard are currently ensconced in a 12 show, three week residency at the Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood. Please come down and join us but if you can't please enjoy the next hour or so of fantastic music. We're gonna be celebrating one of the most important festivals to ever take place on Planet Earth. 50 years anniversary of, yes you guessed it, Woodstock. I'm gonna be playing a ton of music tonight from bands that played Woodstock. Not necessarily the songs that they played on the day. But the bands that played on that particular show. Starting off with this fantastic beauty from only about six years ago. Live in London. This is The Who."

"I am Joe Elliott. This is Songs From The Vault on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. ."

The Who

"And before that we heard The Who live from London at The O2 Arena. they were doing the entire Quadrophenia album once again for one of the best live albums I've ever heard I got to be honest. A great version of The Real Me."

Mountain

"I have to be honest here folks and let you know that I was very late in getting into the band Mountain. I only discovered them through interviews that I'd read with Mick Ralphs of Mott The Hoople who was just raving about this amazing band that had this amazing guitarist in Leslie West. So I finally got to check them out and was shocked to hell really when I discovered this particular song because it had been used on a political show on BBC TV for years in the UK but I never knew who it was. It urns out it was Mountain. The song Nantucket Sleighride."

Joan Baez

"You're listening to Joe Elliott's Songs From The Vault on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. And here with a song that I first heard performed by Judas Priest. oh yes, this is Joan Baez."

"And before that we heard Joan Baez with a song that I first heard via British metal band Judas Priest. they covered it on one of their albums in the mid 70s but that is her original version. It's a beautiful piece of work. Just goes to show ya if the song's there you can do it in any style you like. The song is Diamonds And Rust."

Crosby, Stills And Nash

"I am a huge fan of the three part harmonies that are Crosby, Stills And Nash. Nobody does that blend better than those guys. And a fantastic example of their work right there. The song is Love The One You're With."

Santana ft. Chris Daughtry

"You are listening to Joe Elliott's Songs From The Vault on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. Now here's a band that played Woodstock. Very famous American band. But here from many many years later featuring Chris Daughtry on lead vocals is Santana doing a Def Leppard song?."

"And before that did Carlos Santana back in 1969 ever think that he would cover a song by a group called Def Leppard. Of course he didn't because we didn't exist. But we're glad he did. The song is Photograph."

Voice Over

"He's toured the world as lead singer of Def Leppard. These are his stories and music from his personal collection. Joe Elliott's Songs From The Vault on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks."

Creedence Clearwater Revival

"Before that Creedence Clearwater Revival featuring the wonderfully talented Mr. John Fogerty. The album is Cosmo's Factory. The song we heard all 11 minutes and 59 seconds of the classic Marvin Gaye tune I Heard It Through The Grapevine."

Ten Years After

"Some quite astounding lead guitar work there by Mr. Alvin Lee from Ten Years After. The album is of course Live At Woodstock. The song we heard I'm Going Home."

Jimi Hendrix

"I'm Joe Elliott this is Songs From The Vault on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. And here with a song that I have to confess I first heard sung by Rod Stewart is the legendary Jimi Hendrix."

"And before that the guy who turned the electric guitar into a very very sexy instrument indeed. Mr. Jimi Hendrix from the album the Cry Of Love we heard the song Angel."

Sly & The Family Stone

"I have to say it fills my heart with joy to think that all those years ago. 50 years ago in 1986 half a million kids could turn up in a field in Upstate New York and nobody but nobody gave a damn about the length of your hair or indeed the colour of your skin. Fantastic, fantastic work there by Sly & The Family Stone. From the album Higher we just heard Family Affair."

"You are listening to Songs From The Vault on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. I'm Joe Elliott and it is now time once again to feature the ladies of the festival. Starting off with Melanie."

"And before that Melanie a lady who's voice I have always admired since I was a young young kid with a fantastic bit of work called Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)."

Janis Joplin

"With a voice that sounded like she'd been gargling glass but what a delivery. That is Janis Joplin from the box set Blow All My Blues Away. Fantastic version of the song Piece Of My Heart."

Show Outro

"You have been listening to Joe Elliott's Songs From The Vault on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks. That is about it for this particular show."

"Just one more thing left to play. And I couldn't end the show with anything other than this song. This gentleman was born about 600 yards from where I was born. He for many many years represented everything musical about my home town of Sheffield. And when he played this song live at Woodstock in 1969 he defined the entire festival. Ladies and gentleman I give you the most spectacular Joe Cocker with his version of the old Beatles classic With A Little Help From My Friends. Until next time be good to each other people."
