DEF LEPPARD x JOURNEY Tour In SAN DIEGO, CA (Show Report)

Def Leppard played another show with Journey on the 2018 North American tour last night in San Diego, CA with 16 songs performed.

The show took place at the 44,000 capacity Petco Park.

The tenth and final stadium show of the 2018 tour which was closed by Def Leppard and once again featured opening act Cheap Trick.

Another sold out stadium crowd of almost 44,000 people and the return of the full video screen intro not used at the last two shows.

The band last played San Diego on 16th June 2017 on the Summer Tour 2017.

The 15th show the band have played in San Diego (or Chula Vista) and first time at this venue.

The first visit was in November 1981 at the Fox Theatre with Blackfoot during the High 'n' Dry tour.

They returned in April 1983 as support to Billy Squier on the Pyromania tour at the Sports Arena.

They also ended the US mainland portion of that tour at Jack Murphy Stadium in September 1983. Headlining the KGB-FM 101 Sky Show VIII in front of 55,000 fans. Their first ever headline stadium show.

The first of of two In The Round shows at the Sports Arena took place in November 1987 on the Hysteria tour with a second in September 1992 on the Adrenalize tour.

The SDSU Open Air Theatre was then played in August 1996 on the Slang tour with Gloria Flores appearing during 'Slang' to perform the Spanish vocals heard on the studio version.

A radio promo show took place for the X/Ten album in December 2002 at Cox Arena. The first American show of the 2002/2003 tour.

The last visit to the Sports Arena then took place on November 2005 during the Rock Of Ages tour with Bryan Adams and Ricky Warwick.

The next show took place at the Mattress Firm Amphitheatre (in Chula Vista) in August 2006 when it was known as Coors Amphitheatre on the YEAH! tour.

The last few visits to the city also took place here in April 2008, September 2009, July 2014, September 2015 and in June 2017.

'When Love & Hate Collide' was played in San Diego for the first time.

Perhaps in honor of seeing a Queen Las Vegas residency show Sav wore a cut off Queen T-Shirt during this show.
