Show Intro

"Evening all. Welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. This week coming to you all the way from San Diego in Southern California. It is roasting here. You hardly believe you've actually moved into Autumn. Or Fall s they like to call it over here. What have we got for you tonight?. Sixty minutes of amazing music starting off with some absolutely brand spanking new Uriah Heep."

Uriah Heep

"I got sent a link to that album by Mr. Mick Box the legendary guitarist of Uriah Heep a couple of months ago. Sworn to secrecy of course but now it's officially available I can now play something. And I can honestly say that arguably that's the best thing that they've done since the days of Lord Byron. That is from their brand new album Living The Dream. The song is Grazed By Heaven."

Ricky Warwick

"Now featuring some wonderful lead guitar work by one Mr. Vivian Campbell. This is Ricky Warwick."

"And before that Ricky Warwick from his album Love Many, Trust Few. 2003 all those years ago. The song Johnny Or Elvis."

Jim Wilson

"Now I know I've played it before and no doubt I will play it again because that is my absolute standout track from the brand new album by Mr. Jim Wilson. The album is Now Playing. The song we just heard Energy. Nice bit of funky guitar work there."

The Jimi Hendrix Experience

"Now this week saw the 48th anniversary of the passing of the guitar player who set the standard for every guitar player that has ever come since. So let's celebrate with some of the music of Jimi Hendrix."

"And before that we did hear the actual Hendrix Experience themselves from their Best Of collection with a song that I first heard as a cover by Mr. Rod Stewart no less. The song Angel."

Cybernauts

"Well hopefully you recognise that as a Jimi Hendrix song, but that of course is not the Jimi Hendrix version. That is a band called the Cybernauts and, for those who don't know who they are. They are myself on vocals. Phil Collen on guitar. Woody Woodmansey and Trevor Bolder on drums and bass respectively from David Bowie's Spiders From Mars band. And the late great Dick Decent on the keyboards. That s from the 2001 studio CD. The song is Manic Depression."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. This week all the way from San Diego in Southern California. Time for a little break. When we come back, said Rod Stewart is gonna lead us off."

Rod Stewart

"And before that we heard Mr. Rod Stewart from 1971. The first artist in the history of the music industry to have a Number One single and a Number One album on both sides of the Atlantic in the same week. The album is Every Picture Tells A Story. The song we heard is the old Motown classic I Know I'm Losing You."

The Band

"Well I have to be honest with you folks the jury's out as far as I'm concerned on that particular album. I much prefer the follow up record. That is The Band. The follow up album is called the Band by The Band. Surely not very confusing. But that's from 1968 the album is Music Fom The Big Pink. There's no denying the song. It's a great bit of work called The Weight."

T. Rex

"Now here's a song with a cute little intro by a very young little French girl. Who just happened to be in the vicinity when they were recording. I wonder where she is now?. This is T. Rex."

"And before that T. Rex from an album from 1973 called Tanks. It was recorded just on the outskirts of Paris in a Chateau hence the little girl doing the intro. Possibly the studio manager's daughter. Who knows. The song Mad Donna."

The Beatles

"Just like Jimi Hendrix set the standard for every guitarist that followed. Those guys set the standard for every band to follow. Especially when it comes to songwriting and let's be honest not many ever came close. They are of course The Beatles from the Hard Days Night album it's the 2009 mono remaster. The song Any Time At All."

Manfred Mann's Earth Band

"Well since we're back on the road again, we started last night in San Francisco, I thought I'd play this because apparently for Manfred Mann's Earth Band, so is Davy."

"And before that we heard Manfred Mann's Earth Band from their collection The World Of Mann with the wonderful and hit single Davy's On The Road Again."

Bad Company

"Now what brought that song to my mind this week was of course the 48th anniversary of the passing of Jimi Hendrix. It could've been written about anybody that went too soon I suppose. Apart from maybe Kurt Cobain or Steve Clark because that song was written in 1974. It is Bad Company from their second album Straight Shooter. The song Shooting Star."

Show Outro

"And that my friends from on the road again is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time god willing all the way from a place just outside Seattle called George, Washington. No doubt named after the president."

"So until then I'm gonna leave you with this. We are in Southern California and for some reason this band have always epitomised the sound on Southern California to me. They are The Doobie Brothers and from their album Captain And Me this is China Grove. Until next week see ya!."
