Show Intro

"Evening all. Welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again. We have sixty minutes of fantastic music which is this week coming to you from absolutely nowhere in particular. We are on a mini break. Even though we start up again in Albuquerque next week, it's a rescheduled show cancelled due to serious bad weather. Nothing like the bad weather that's just hit the East Coast of the USA, but bad enough to cancel a show. However we're going back there to do the honourable thing. And the honourable thing right now it to play this. This is The Motors."

The Motors

"From 1977 their debut album. The Motors there with the very aptly titled Whisky And Wine. And I say aptly because whisky is our drink of choice for our pre gig ritual that one or two of us take part in and wine being the choice of drink after the show in las Vegas last week. With Mr. Brian May who popped his head in for the last couple of numbers. Queen finished about 45 minutes before we did and they were literally next door. So he popped over, we had a nice little chat and a bit of a drink. Good to see him."

The Mooney Suzuki

"Right well from Whisky And Wine to Alive and Amplified. This is The Mooney Suzuki."

"And before that a very infectious bit of work by a band called The Mooney Suzuki. The song Alive & Amplified."

Duff McKagan's Loaded

"I saw them live at The Academy in Dublin about four or five years ago and they were spectacular. They are Loaded featuring Duff McKagan on bass guitar. From the album the Taking that's the song Indian Summer."

Aerosmith

"Right getting all regal and royal on us. This is Aerosmith."

"And before that we heard Aerosmith from the magnificent album Draw The Line with the mighty Kings And Queens."

Paul McCartney

"He has a brand new album out called Egypt Station which I don't have yet but hopefully next week I'll be able to play something from it. So for the time being we just went back to one of the best records he ever made. It is the 1973 classic album Band On The Run. That was Paul McCartney with Wings with Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Time for a little break and when we come back, lock your doors it's Peter Gabriel."

Peter Gabriel

"And before that from his third solo album. Often referred to as the Melt album because the second one would be the Scratches and the first one is the wet car. I am of course talking about Peter Gabriel with the very spooky Intruder."

Brian Eno

"He was in 1974 an ex member of Roxy Music and the future producer of U2. And there with an incredible impersonation, at least to me, the best I've ever heard of the Velvet Underground, is Brian Eno from the album Here Come The Warm Jets. the song Needles In The Camels Eye, ouch!."

Rush

"Now many many artists have done cover albums that show us where they came from musically. I'm thinking of people like David Bowie with Pin-Ups. Aerosmith with Honkin' On Bobo. Def Leppard did it with YEAH!. In fact my Down 'n' Outz side project is probably the most obvious one. But here's a band from Canada who are showing us right here that they were actually influenced quite heavily be 60s British R and B music."

"And before that yes it was indeed Rush from their mini album Feedback with their version of the old Yardbirds classic Shapes Of Things."

Jethro Tull

"From an album that for me never gets old and never will. That is Jethro Tull . The album Aqualung 1971. The song Mother Goose."

The Rolling Stones

"And things, for the next few minutes at least, seem to be getting somewhat feisty."

"And before that The Rolling Stones from the album Beggar's Banquet with Street Fighting Man."

Elton John

"He has just hit the road having earlier this year announced his retirement from touring. But don't worry folks if you are a fan there are still plenty of opportunities to see him live because it's a three year farewell tour. Elton John there from his 1973 classic album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road with the wonderful Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting."

Show Outro

"Wow well after all that musical violence I think it's time to chill out a little bit. And what better way to end the show than with some British punk stroke New Wave. Yes this is the end of the show folks. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time all the way from San Diego in California."

"So until then let's finish with this one. From 1980 the album is London Calling. The band are The Clash and this is Train In Vain. Until next week see ya!."
