Berlin 2019 - Press Release - (Translated)

DEF LEPPARD Live 2019

Only headline show in Germany on 2 July in Berlin
Strong support with the Swedish Melodic hard rockers EUROPE
"The Story So Far - The Best Of" available from November 30, 2018

With over 100 million records sold, they are among the most commercially successful rock bands of the last four decades. Now Def Leppard from Sheffield come back to Germany after their sold-out short tour in May 2015. The quintet around singer Joe Elliott has now confirmed an exclusive headline concert on July 2, 2019 in the Berlin Citadel, including the new best-of album "The Story So Far" (Universal Enterprises), which will be released on November 30, 2018 becomes. Def Leppard are supported by an absolute squatter. The Swedish melodic hard rockers Europe will open the concert evening and complete the exclusive date in Berlin to a true festival for all fans of guitar rock with legend status.

The year 2018 is one of the most successful in the long history of the British band. After a 60-date tour of the largest North American venues from May to October, which saw over one million viewers, the five will play the Scorpions in Australia and New Zealand in November after a quick trip to Hawaii and Japan before joining in the year to end twelve concerts (and the Support Cheap Trick) in their home country.

Since its founding in the late 1970s, the band from the English working-class city of Sheffield has become one of the most well-known and innovative melodic rock bands, from a pure rock act touring AC / DC and Rainbow in the late 1970s / early 1980s developed in the world. Their debut "On Through The Night", back in 1980, still regarded as the work of the legendary New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), caught the attention. With their second song "High N 'Dry" (1981) they succeeded in the US a Top 40 hit. Then the band made its mark with their third album "Pyromania" for the first time, with # 2 in the US charts and over 10 million sales, the quintet became one of the style-defining bands of the eighties. With the successor "Hysteria" they succeeded as the fifth group ever to sell more than 10 million albums in the US. During the "Hysteria" tour, Def Leppard was the first band in rock history to use a circular stage amid the largest US arenas. The hits of this epoch ("Bringin 'On The Heartbreak", "Foolin'", "Photographer", "Pour Some Sugar On Me", "Hysteria", "Love Bites" or "Animal") have not come from American pop culture to imagine more. After their overrun "Rock Of Ages" even a Broadway musical and 2013 was named a movie with Tom Cruise and Catherine Zeta-Jones, of course, play on the soundtrack Def Leppard a crucial role. Despite various blows (drummer Rick Allen lost his left arm in a car accident in December 1984, guitarist Steve Clarke died in January 1991 from a drug overdose) Def Leppard have never plugged and released in recent years regularly successful albums: The last, self-titled studio album achieved The Top 10 in both the USA and Germany in 2015. The Melodic Rockers are also a real attraction in the live sector, their collaborations with Bryan Adams (2005), Journey (2006, 2018) and Kiss (2015) are among the most successful US concert tours in recent years. "CMT Crossroads," their collaboration with superstar Taylor Swift, became one of the bestselling DVDs of the US chain Walmart in 2009. Def Leppard's concert series "Viva! Hysteria in Las Vegas 2013 is as legendary as their entry into the 'Guinness Book of Records' of October 23, 1995, when they gave three concerts (Morocco, England, Canada) on three different continents within one day.

With the British, a band is now returning to Germany, which has developed over the course of four decades from an inexperienced student band to one of the most influential rock bands in history. Best of all, your live performance is beyond doubt.

The pre-single to "Personal Jesus", a cover of the Depeche Mode classic, has been on sale since July and the track "We All Need Christmas" followed on October 12th. In addition to the current double best of "The Story So Far", which will be released on November 30, 2018, a vinyl box "Hysteria-The Singles" will also be available from the beginning of November.
