Joni Michels - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

2018 North American Tour/Live Show

"Well that's just the start of it 'cause then we gotta do the rest of the world. So absolutely it's pretty cool."

"Yeah it's amazing. It's one of the most important things for us playing live. You know getting that live show up and running and all that stuff. So yeah no that's always a highlight really."

Royal Albert Hall Show/G3 Tour

"We just played a show like a few weeks ago. It was our first show in about six months, Def Leppard. And we played the Royal Albert Hall in London for the Teenage Cancer Trust. And it was one of the best shows we've ever done. Everything was just amazing. The audience was great. The venue was great. The event, you know, what we were doing it for was cool. And we just sounded amazing. I was actually shocked it was that good after a six month break."

"Even how we were playing I think, you know, I just done this tour with Joe Satriani and John Pettrucci. This G3 Tour and I think that really upped my guitar. So that was really cool, but everyone in our band. You know the singing was spectacular and Joe sounded amazing."

Digital Streaming Announcement

"That was a long time coming. We didn't wanna just release our stuff like everyone else did. I think we felt that the stuff had more value. It was good holding out. We We really put value on what we do."

2018 Live Shows/Favourite Song To Perform?

"You know it just felt really good playing stuff like Hysteria and Love Bites. I don't usually like that. I'm not kind of the ballad king. I'm not really kind of...I like playing rock songs when we're play live. But for some reason everything just sounded great. ."

2018 North American Tour With Journey

"We've wanted to do it since then. I mean we finished that one in 2006 and we're like wow, that was great. Let's do that again. And this is the first time we've been able to. You know everyone's been so busy and they've been doing all these others things. Touring and recording and everything. And this is the first time it kind of worked out that we could both do it together. So I'm looking forward to it. I'm just a bit surprised that we didn't do it sooner."

Journey/2006 Tour/Watching Other Bands?

"Always. Actually on the last tour yeah I ended up playing with them as well. And I'd jam with them at soundcheck occasionally. They're an awesome band. They're just like great as a...individually they're amazing, but as a band they're really special and the songs on top of that it's something even more so. So I definitely check 'em out for sure."
