VIVIAN CAMPBELL Says DEF LEPPARD Likely To Record New Album In 2019

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has been interviewed by the Tennessee press and mentioned the next studio album.

Vivian spoke to Ryan Wilusz of Knox News ahead of the show in Knoxville, TN.

Vivian talked about the current tour, stageshow/production, audiences, touring/days off, his current health, touring with Journey and making a new studio album in 2019.

He says they are likely to record a new album in 2019. As has been stated by various members of the band over the last year or so.

Joe said in May the band would start work on a new album once the 2018 tour was finished.

His Current Health

"I'm now in my third year of being on this drug. I get infusions approximately once a month. It's a little bit more difficult when we're on the road to make that happen. I've had very, very minimal side effects of this drug. It affects different people differently ... I've just been really lucky that this has worked for me and that I've been able to continue my life and my career."

New Album In 2019

"We will most likely get back in the studio next year sometime and start working on another record. Our most recent album came out in the early end of 2015. It was an eponymous title just called "Def Leppard."

"We're playing one song from that only on this tour. But we do realize that making music is sort of a loss leader in this day and age. Record sales are only a fraction of what they used to be. That's not why we make music anymore. We're not expecting it to be financially viable. We do it because we're still a creative entity, and it's still what we do. And it's important for the lifeblood of this band that we continue to write and record new music ... It's still important for us. It's still a muscle we have to exercise."
