Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show on what else but the wonderful Planet Rock. This week coming to you all the way from Charlotte in North Carolina on what is Download weekend. So if you are there listening in your tent. You're very welcome and if you're at home, you are also very welcome. Sixty minutes of wonderful music. This should get you in the mood. This is classic UFO."

UFO

"Back in the summer of 1978 Def Leppard mark I went on a boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads and while we were down there for a couple of weeks. We noticed that UFO were playing the Ipswich Gaumont. So we managed to get tickets and we went to see them and literally a week after we got back Def Leppard played our first ever gig. But their are said band from their brilliant Ron Nevison produced album from 1978. The album is Obsession. the song we just heard Hot 'n' Ready."

Crosby, Stills and Nash

"So from UFO to C, S and N."

"And before that you could say the inspiration for their band. Crosby, Stills and Nash from their Greatest Hits album with Suite: Judy Blue Eyes."

Trent Severn

"If you were tuned in last week you may remember that I mentioned that myself, Sav and Vivian had been to see a gig on our day off in Toronto. In a little converted church. Well the band you just heard were the band that we went to see. A little three piece band featuring our good friend Emm Gryner on a ukulele bass of all things. The band are Trent Severn and from their brand new album Portage you just heard the song Save Me."

Kate Bush

"All that sultry violin playing in the Trent Severn song has got me in the mood for more violin. So if you're a Kate Bush fan, you can probably tell where I'm going with this."

"And before that we heard Kate Bush from the album Never Forever with Violin."

Doctors Of Madness

"Back in March just before Def Leppard played the Albert Hall I went to see a gig at the 100 Club. And it was supposedly the second last ever gig by the Doctors Of Madness. But I wonder. I really do wonder and there they are from their third album Sons Of Survival with the title track."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show this week coming to ya all the way from Charlotte in North Carolina. On what is Download weekend. It's time for a little break. No more violins!. When we come back we're gonna hear some regular six string axe work by Blue Oyster Cult."

Blue Oyster Cult

"And before that we heard Blue Oyster Cult from the album Agents of Fortune featuring the sultry poetess that is Patti Smith. The song The Revenge Of Vera Gemini."

Robin Trower

"Kinda weird really that no matter how old you are there are certain childhood memories that just never ever fade. And for me that song is absolutely one of them. I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard it and that specific version. That is Robin Trower. It is the title track of the album Bridge Of Sighs. But that's the John Peel sessions version. A bonus track these days. I was listening to that song because I was listening to the John Peel show and recording that song on to my Dad's Teac reel to reel tape machine. Strange what you remember isn't it?."

Jethro Tull

"Another childhood memory of mine is my mother coming home from town with a seven inch single with five tracks on it. Two tracks on the A-Side and three tracks on the B-Side. This is one of the three tracks. This is Jethro Tull."

"And before that we heard Jethro Tull from the album Living In The Past. Also part of a five song seven inch from 1971. How the heck did they do that back then?. the song Dr Bogenbroom."

Matt Nathanson

"Well that shouldn't work but somehow it does. That's an incredible acoustic version of Stagefright. The Def Leppard song from Pyromania. Done by a gentleman called Matt Nathanson. And the album is called Pyromattia. As in Matt. Wow, incredible stuff."

Dr. Feelgood

"Right well from one doctor to another. Down to Canvey Island for some good old British R and B. This is the Feelgoods.

"And before that we heard Dr. Feelgood from their collection Singled Out The A-Sides. We heard the song As Long As The Price Is Right."

Cheap Trick

"Regular listeners to my show will already know that I am a huge fan of that band. That band are Cheap Trick and from their 2017 We're Alright the deluxe version. A song called Rest Of My Life. One of the best things they've ever done."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Charlotte in North Carolina, is about it for this week on what is Download day. If you're there I hope you are behaving yourselves. And if you're at home I hope you're enjoying yourselves. I will be back with you at exactly the same time next week god willing. All the way from Baltimore in Maryland on what will be the eve of the end of the first leg. Yes that'll be 16 shows down. Only about another 80 to go."

"So gonna leave you with this. This The Struts from their album Everybody Wants and Roll Up. Until next week see ya!."
