Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. The mini break is over and we are back out. So welcome to Atlanta, Georgia whose state symbol is a peach and this is a peach of a show. We have some old, we have some new. We have some long forgotten, even discarded but it is my job to bring those things back into the public consciousness. And we're gonna start off with a band that opens the first show of leg 2 of this particular tour. It is the wonderful, wonderful Pretenders."

The Pretenders

"Of the ten stadium shows that we are playing this summer The Pretenders are on four of them and I can guarantee ya I will be side stage for every single one 'cause I love that band. I saw them for the very first time in 1982 at the Dominion Theatre in London. And of course back in those days they had the much missed Pete Farndon on bass and the very wonderfully talented James Honeyman-Scott in guitar. Both of whom played on that particular song from their debut album in 1979. We just heard the song Mystery Achievement."

Bad Company

"Well as we are in Atlanta, Georgia let's acknowledge the fact. This is Bad Company."

"And before that from 1979 we heard Bad Company from the album Desolation Angels with Oh, Atlanta."

Stone Temple Pilots

"Very happy that they're back out doing it with a new guy but that is the classic line-up of Stone Temple Pilots from the album No. 4 with a song called, strangely enough, Atlanta."

Billy Joel

"Well during this mini break it would be forgiveable for anybody to think that all I did was sit around with my feet up on the coffee table watching the World Cup. That was about 99 percent of it for sure, but I did manage to sneak off and see a couple of gigs. Chalk and cheese but both fantastic. Starting off here with Mr. Billy Joel."

"And before that Billy Joel who played the Aviva Stadium which is where the Irish football team play most of their International games. From the album Glass Houses in 1980 we heard the song. Which he wouldn't play on the night. I had a beef with him about that. He As and Bs it with another one and swaps it out, but he has promised me he'll play it in Boston 'cause he's playing in Boston the night before we are. The song All For Leyna."

The Killers

"That is The Killers who put on a sweltering gig at the RDS Showrooms in Dublin. The RDS is actually a horse riding arena about 25 to 30,000 capacity. It was absolutely packed to the rafters. The sun was beating down on the band for the whole night so the lighting engineer had the night off pretty much. But it was a fantastic show and that song went down an absolute storm when they played it. It is from their 2006 album Sam's Town, When You Were Young."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. It's time for a little break and when we come back, we're gonna get all hurdy gurdy with Steve Hillage."

Steve Hillage

"And before that we heard Steve Hillage who featured Utopia as his backing band on that album. The album was produced by Utopia's guitarist Todd Rundgren. The album is L and the song is the Donovan written Hurdy Gurdy Man."

Donovan

"Whenever I hear this song the verse always reminds me of the intro of What Is And What Should Never Be by Led Zeppelin and low and behold who plays on that particular song we just heard?. But Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. It is Donovan from his Greatest Hits. The song is Season Of The Witch ."

Lou Reed

"OK beware he's about to be attacked by some flora. Yes, this is Lou Reed."

"And before that from 1972 produced by Mick Ronson and David Bowie. The album is Transformer. The artist is Lou Reed and the song we heard Vicious."

Roxy Music

"Excellent stuff there from Roxy Music from 1975. The album is Siren the song Whirlwind."

Cheap Trick

"Right then standing on the edge as they often do. This is Cheap Trick."

"And before that we heard Cheap Trick from the album Standing On The Edge with How About You."

Fleetwood Mac

"I cannot wait to see the new line-up of that band live. They are featuring these days Neil Finn. Once of Crowded House and Spilt Enz. And Mike Campbell from Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers. Replacing the recently departed Lindsey Buckingham. They are Fleetwood Mac, but that's the original British Fleetwood Mac if you like. Featuring the likes of Peter Green. From their 25 Years The Chain box set that is Oh Well, Part 1."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Atlanta in Georgia, is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time god willing from Little Rock in Arkansas."

"So until then, and I did promise at the top of the show some new music. Yes they are back with some brand new stuff. And I'm so excited about this as you can probably tell, is The Struts with Body Talk. Until next week see ya!."
