DEF LEPPARD Confirmed For LONDON Teenage Cancer Trust Show

Def Leppard 2018. Teenage Cancer Trust

Def Leppard have been announced to play a concert at the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust in March.

The show will take place on 25th March at the legendary Royal Albert Hall having been first mentioned in December 2017.

The latest show in the annual Teenage Cancer Trust concert series to be announced following dates by The Courteeners (23rd March) and Kasabian (24th March) which had been revealed in December. Roger Daltrey has also been announced for his own show.

Tickets for the event go on sale on 2nd February at the Teenage Cancer Trust website.

The legendary 5,272 seat venue was first opened in March 1871 and will turn 147 years old this year. The scene of many legendary events and home of the famous BBC Proms series of classical concerts.

This concert series began in 2000 with a show by The Who and was first organised by their singer Roger Daltrey who is also the patron of the charity. Def Leppard's participation can be traced to their show supporting The Who in Porto Alegre, Brazil in September 2017. As explained below by Joe.

The first non tour show in the UK by the band since the September 2014 NFL game at Wembley Stadium and first home concert since 19th December 2015 in Sheffield.

Since 2000 other acts to play the annual event include Coldplay, Muse, Gary Moore, Florence And The Machine, Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Oasis and Richard Ashcroft.

Joe previously appeared at a Teenage Cancer Trust show in November 2014 at the Shepherd's Bush Empire billed as An Evening Of Who Music In Aid Of The Teenage Cancer Trust" and sang ' Love Reign O'er Me'. A song he had covered in 2012 for a Who tribute album. That show was filmed but footage has never been released.

The first time the full band will have played a concert at this venue. Previously it was played with Steve Clark at The Brit Awards in February 1989 when a playback version of 'PSSOM' was performed.

The only member to play an actual concert here was Joe on 27th April 2011 when the Down 'n' Outz supported Paul Rodgers.

DEF LEPPARD: ROYAL ALBERT HALL 2018

British rock legends Def Leppard will be closing the week of shows on Sunday 25 March 2018. Tickets on sale 9am Friday 2 February

Def Leppard - Joe Elliott (vocals), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick "Sav" Savage (bass), Vivian Campbell (guitar) and Rick Allen (drums) - continue to be one of the most important forces in rock music. Over the course of their career the band has produced a series of classic ground-breaking albums that have sold over 100 million copies worldwide and set the bar for generations of music fans and artists alike. The group’s spectacular live shows and arsenal of hits have become synonymous with their name, leading Def Leppard to be heralded as an institution in both the music and touring industry.

Formed in 1977 in Sheffield, UK, the bands singles and albums have entered the fabric of contemporary music. Albums such as “Hysteria”, “Pyromania” and “Adrenalize” and singles like “Pour Some Sugar On Me”, “Animal”, “Let’s Get Rocked”, “Two Steps Behind”, “Make Love Like A Man”, “Armageddon it!”, “Slang” and “Photograph” have led Def Leppard to be dubbed “The UK’s greatest arena rock band”.

The bands all conquering 1987 “Hysteria” album alone produced seven worldwide hit singles. Def Leppard are one of only five rock bands with two original studio albums selling over 10 million copies in the U.S.A.

In January 2018 Def Leppard’s full recording catalogue was made available online for the first time, making them one of the last multi-platinum selling acts to be added to streaming and download platforms. The response was overwhelming with the bands singles and albums entering the charts across the globe and introducing the music of Def Leppard to a while new generation. On release the band had three albums enter the Top 10 of the iTunes chart.

Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott says,

"When Def Leppard and The Who played together last October, Roger asked us if we’d like to contribute to the Teenage Cancer Trust shows this year. Having performed myself with Roger and The Who at the Shepherds Bush Empire back in 2014 solo it was a no brainer to say yes as a band. It is a privilege and an honour to be involved with such a worthwhile event."
